MEETING HELD WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 1974

Junior Member: Schumacher
Northwestern National Bank's request for variance to allow recon-
struction of their weather ball sign: Mr. Pike of the bank in-
dicated that Banco, owner of the Northwestern National Banks, has
changed corporation name and logo and asks all member banks to
conzorm with the new logo. Mr. Pike also indicated that the bank
wishes to install a ficia sign on the West side of the Dank.
Motion StofZel, Second Jensen that the ficia sign be permitted in
that no variance is required because this sign would conform witn
Chapter 10 Subd. 3.F of the code. The Code allows signs to pro-
trude up to 15 inches beyond a building facade where the structure
over hangs the public way. The proposed sign exten~s less than 15
inches beyond the tacade and therefore requires no variance. All
ayes.
The variance for the weather ball sign referred to Stolfel commit-
tee.
The committee requests that copies of the new City Code be made
available to all commission members immediately.
Our Saviour's Lutheran Church application for variance. Motion
Tanner, Second Hallberg to adopt Tanner's committee report and
approve a rear yard set back to allow the building to be built
to within four feet of the alley (committee report attached).
All ayes. Trautmann abstained.
Jim Rossing's Paint Store request for variance. Motion Tanner,
Second Kramer to adopt the Tanner committee report and deny the
variance (committee report attached). Seven ayes - Linde,
Hallberg, Kramer, Tanner, Jensen, Trautmann, Soleim. One nay,
Stoffel.
Beltz's request for variance at 1902 Manor Lane. Motion Stof~el
Second Trautmann to adopt Stoffel committee report and deny vari-
ance (committee report attached). Committee recommends no vari-
ance because there is no hardship in that the application is zor
the benefit of the prospective owner and not for the present owner.
All ayes.
Jack Anderson's sign study. No report.
Prano property request for variance. Mr. Kramer reports that the
committee met with the owner but that more time is needed to study.
Down town parking lot study os design and plan. No report by
Hirchert committee.
Willis Olson's Petition for Annexation referred to Tanner Committee.
Smead's request for variance to allow barbed wire fence around pro-
pane tanks. Motion Soleim, Second Stoffel to adopt Hirchert committee
report and recommend approval allowing barbed wire fence. All ayes.
Home occupation matter: De~erred lor discussion at next meeting.
NOTE: Metro Sewer Board will be represented at the Ad Hoc meeting
o~ March D, 1974, concerning shares services.
Minnesota Municipal Commission will attend a special meeting
March 14, 1974, to discuss annexation pros and cons and procedure.
