HASTINGS PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING
MONDAY, APRIL 13~ 1981
7:30 P. M.
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 by Chairman Wendler.
Members Present:
Members Absent:
Commissioners Wendler, Stevens, Von Feldt,
Simacek, Kunkel, Freiermuth, and Murphy.

Moved by Commissioner Murphy, seconded by
Commissioner Reuter, to approve the minutes of the
March 23, 1981 Planning Commission meeting.
8 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Mr. Carlson~s request would allow him to construct
a garage. Commissioner Reuter stated that he felt
tF. at the circumstances were unusual, that the
topography prevented the required setback, and that
the variance should be approved based on those fact ors.

Moved by Commissioner Biumkel, seconded by Comm-
issioner Murphy to recommen~l approval of the
variance, as the request would appear to show a
hardship based upon the unusual topographical
situation on the int. 8 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
Mr. Sieben presented a Site Plan which showed a
proposed Commercial Building to be rented to
two businesses. The Planner indicated that the proposed
Site Plan appeared to meet all zoning requiremer~s,
and passed on some staff comments.

Commissioner Reuter expressed concern that
the proposed development might aggravate existing
drainage problems in the area. Mr. Sieben
responded that the proposed design should not
significately effect the existing situation.
Moved by Commissioner Simatcek, seconded by
Commissioner Freiermuth to approve the Site
Plan subject to the comments made in the Planners
memo. 8 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
The Planner reviewed the Preliminary Plat
with the Planning Commission, and identified
the staff comments. Commissioner Wendler
expressed concern that the distance from
West 19 1/Z St. to any other intersection might
be too long a stretch for fire equipment.
Moved by Commissioner Murphy, seconded by
Commissioner Von Feldt to schedule a public
hearing for the April 27, 1981 Planning
Commission meeting. 8 Ayes, O Nayes.
Moved by Commissioner Reuter, seconded by
Commissioner Kunkel to adjourn at 8:12 p.m.
