OF HASTINGS PLANNING COMMISSION
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1981
7:30 P.M.
MEETING
The Meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Assistant Chair-
man Murphy.
Members present:
Commissioners Murphy, Stevens, Von Feldt, Reuter,
Bultman, Kunkel, Freiermuth, Simacek who arrived
at 7:38 P.M., and Wendler arrived at the end of
the meeting.
Members absent: None.
Moved by Commissioner Reuter,seconded by Commiss-
ioner Kunkel to approve the minutes of the September
28, 1981 meeting. 7 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
Mr. Lehmann was requesting the alley to be vacated
so that he could construct a garage.
Moved by Commissioner Kunkel, seconded by Commissioner
Stevens to recommend that the Council vacate the
alley in Block 86 with the condition that an ease-
ment be retained for any utilities in existence.
7 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
Moved by Commissioner Von Feldt, seconded by Comm-
issioner Reuter to schedule a Public Hearing for the
October 26, 1981 Planning Commission Meeting.
8 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
The Planner explained that Mr. Hanson had indicated
he could not find commercial property of sufficient
size available for his proposed use. The Planner
also explained that similar facilities are often
found in light industrial or " quasi commercial
industrial areas." He also indicated that the Ind-
ustrial Park Board had indicated a generally fav-
orable response to the proposal.
Moved by Commissioner Reuter, seconded by Commiss-
Simacek to refer the matter to a committee for
further study. 8 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
Assistant Chairman Murphy appointed Commissioners
Stevens, Simacek, Kunkel, and himself to the
committee. Commissioner Murphy to chair the comm-
ittee, with all other commission members welcome
to participate if they desired.

Mr. Tanner proposed to move the parking lot
closer to the Westview right~of-way line, but
still within the required setback limitations.
Moved by Commissioner Simacek, seconded by Comm-
issioner Freiermuth to approve the site plan re-
vision conditioned upon any affects on the drain-
age to be reviewed by the Staff before a building
permit is issued. 8 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
Mr. Reuter resubmitted a preliminary plat that
had been reviewed a couple of years earlier.
Due to the amount of time that had passed, the
proposal would be required to follow the entire
process.
Moved by Commissioner Von Feldt, seconded by
Commissioner Bultman to schedule a Public Hear-
ing for the October 26, 1981 Planning Commission
Meeting, with the condition that a revised draw-
ing with updated information on street and util-
ity elevations, proposed utility connections,
and a site plan showing the exterior building
designs to be submitted for the next meeting.

Moved by Commissioner Von Feldt, seconded by
Commissioner Simacek to adjourn at 8:09 P.M.
