HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/22/82MINUTES OF HASTINGS PLANNING COMMISSION MONDAY, FEBRUARY 22, 1982 7:30 P.M. The Meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by Acting Chairman Murphy. Members Present: Commissioners Murphy, Stevens, Reuter, Bultman, and Simacek. Members Absent: Commissioner Wendler. Moved by Commissioner Stevens, seconded by Commissioner Bultman to approve the Minutes of the February 8, 1982 Meeting. 5 Ayes, 0 Nayes. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Planner explained the proposal, which was to receive a special use permit for a Two Family Dwelling, and then receive the necessary zero side yard setbacks and minor subdivision approval to allow for each unit to be separately owned. SPECIAL USE PERMIT & TWIN HOMES APPROVAL - TWIN HOMES IN AN R-2 DISTRICT 1630 PINE STREET - PAUL MURPHY Moved by Commissioner Simacek, seconded by Commissioner Reuter to schedule a Public Hearing for the March 8, 1982 Planning Commission Meeting. 5 Ayes, 0 Nayes. The proposal met all pertinent zoning requirements. Moved by Commissioner Simacek, seconded by Commissioner Stevens to recommend approval of the Home Occupa- tion Permit. 5 Ayes, 0 Nayes. HOME OCCUPATION PERMIT PUBLICATION OFFICE - 649 WEST 3RD STREET - PAMELA F. THORSEN The proposed addition would bring the stucture to a distance of 6 feet from the property line. 25 feet is required. FRONT SETBACK VARIANCE FOR ADDITION - THE GIFT TREE - 1266 WEST HIGHWAY 55 Moved by Commissioner Stevens, seconded by Commissioner Reuter to recommend denial of the variance request, since the cir- cumstances are not unique to the property, since adequate land is available for other expansion alternatives a hardship has not been proven, and since the approval of this request would set a precedent for possible similar future requests. 3 Ayes, Simacek Nay, Bultman Abstain. Pe~ruary 2~, 1~2 -2- Commissioner Murphy gave the Committee Report, stating that the Committee had reviewed the Planners draft amendments, and recommended approval of those draft amendments. He also read a letter from the assistant City Attorney, which indi- cated that the proposed amendments appear- ed to bring the Comprehensive Plan into conformity with the recently amended zoning ordinance. Moved by Commissioner Simacek, seconded by Commissioner Reuter to approve the Planners proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendments as stated in his February 4, 1982 memo, and to send those proposed Amendments to the Metropolitan Council for their review and comment before for- warding on to the City Council for Council action. 5 Ayes, 0 Nayes. Moved by Commissioner Bultman, sec- onded by Commissioner Stevens to ad- journ at 8:18 P.M. 5 Ayes, 0 Nayes.
