CITY COUNCIL PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING
ON THE PLEASANT VALLEY PROPOSED REZONING, AN~
THE TWO FAMILY AND MULTIPLE FAMILY DWELLING SPECIAL
USE PERMIT ISSUE
Chairman Trautmann called the special use meeting to order
at 6:30 P.M.
Councilmen Trautmann, Nesbitt, Klimek, Plan, Kulzer, and
Werner were present. The Planning Commission Committee, Chaired
by Nick Conzemius, and including Commissioners Simacek, Martin,
Reuter, and Wendler, were also in attendance.
Chairman Trautmann suggested that an additional sub-committee
of this group be assigned to look into the percent of units per
block approach to dealing with the issue, and report back to the
full committee.
Commissioner Simacek, and Councilma~ Nesbitt, agree, but in-
dicated that there should be some form of neighborhood consent in
the process. Other Councilmen and Commissioners expressed concerns
about the various obtions.
Chairman Trautmann appointed the sub-committee to consist of
Councilmen Nesbitt and Werner and askrdChalrmanConzemius to appoint
two members from the Planning Commission. Chairman Conzemius appoint-
ed Commissioner Simacek and himself to the sub-committee. Chair-
man Trautmann then appointed Commissioner Simacek as Chairman of the
sub-committee. Mr. Jim Abbott, the Chamber of Commerce Director,
asked that a representative from the Chamber be allowed to serve on
the sub-committee as an exofficio member.
It was then agreed that the whole committee should be able to
present a recommendation to the Planning Commission by their July
llth Meeting, and the City Council by their July 18th Meeting.
The Meeting was adjourned at 6:59 P.M.
Chairman Trautmann opened the meeting on the Pleasant Valley
proposed rezoning at 7:00 P.M. Mayor Stoffel, and Councilmen
Trautmann, Nesbitt, Klimek, Werner, Kulzer, and Plan were in atten-
dance.
Chairman Trautmann explained the meanings and uses allowed in
the main residential zoning districts in the City. Mr. Jack Christen-
son, one of the developers, then described the proposed development
and the developers point of view. Mr. Pat Farrow, an attorney re-
presenting the nearby neighbors, then expressed the neighbors concerns
and questions.
The discussions then centered upon the interaction of the
proposed development with the existing homes, and the extent of
area that should be covered by the rezoning. After a lengthly
discussion of the neighbors concerns, Chairman Trautmann called
for a break for the attorney s involved in the development to
discuss whether a compromise could be reached.
After no compromise was able to be reached, Chairman Trautmann
scheduled another committee meeting prior to the next Council
meeting on June 20, 1983 at 6:30 P.M. in the City Council Chambers.
Chairman Trautmann adjourned the meeting at 9:45 P.M.
