Call to Order 7:00 p.m. Present: Commissioner Ben Spader, Dave Pemble, Nicole DePalma, Bruce Karnick & Craig Santelman Absent: Commissioner Chair, Chelsea Piskor Parks and Recreation Director Chris Jenkins, City Administrator Dan Wietecha, Recreation Programmer Paige Marschall Bigler, HKGi Consultant Gabrielle Grinde II. Determination of Quorum Quorum Present: 5:6 III. Approval of Minutes Commissioner Karnick motioned to approve minutes, Commissioner DePalma seconded the motion. Minutes approved 5:5 a. Approve minutes of the Parks and Recreation Commission meeting held on August 19, 2020 IV. People Movement Plan Presentation a. HKGI 7:05 p.m. Director Jenkins introduced Landscape Architect Gabrielle Grinde from HKGi. Grinde provided a sum- mary of the People Movement Plan including: the plan scope, objectives, implementation strategies, and background context. Commissioners were provided the opportunity to ask questions. Director Jenkins provided clarification that the People Movement Plan is a planning document that provides options. The document is provided to Commission to inform and engage the Commission. No Commission action is needed at this time. V. Memorials a. Commissioner DePalma Commissioner DePalma shared a Memorial idea for a creative and cost-effective way to memorialize loved ones. DePalma described the idea for ribbons to be displayed on trees in the parks system. Commis- sion expressed interest and support and would like to discuss more details on cost and maintenance. VI. Department Updates 7:45 p.m. Parks and Recreation Director Jenkins provided Department updates to the Commission including Lake Isabel Master Plan. Jenkins noted under current restrictions the City warming houses and Civic Arena are not open, but when ice is able to be built, outdoor rinks will be maintained. The Department will follow the most current executive orders for our facilities and programs. Commissioners acknowledged DePalma’s six years of service on the Parks and Recreation Commission! Next Meeting: TBD, 2021 at 7:00pm Commissioner DePalma motioned to adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Commissioner Karnick. Meeting adjourned 8:08 p.m.
