APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approve Minutes of the City Council Meeting on October 5, 2020.
Minutes were approved as presented.

Mayor Fasbender stated comments received about items not on the agenda have
been distributed to all councilmembers and are acknowledged.

Unanimous consent is required to add items to the agenda.

CONSENT AGENDA
The items on the Consent Agenda are items of routine nature or no perceived controversy to be
acted upon by the City Council in a single motion. There will be no discussion on these items
unless a Councilmember so requests, in which event the items will be removed from the Consent
Agenda to the appropriate Department for discussion.

Hinzman presented the requests for a Special Use Permit for operation of
an apartment building in a historic structure and a request for a variance
to the minimum parking standards to construct 17 parking spaces rather
than 18.

1. Appointment of John Townsend as Fire Chief
Wietecha detailed the process used to recommend John Townsend being
appointed Fire Chief. The Public Safety Committee of the Council unanimously
supports this recommendation.

REPORTS FROM CITY COMMITTEES, OFFICERS, COUNCILMEMBERS

Planning Commission will meet on Monday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m.

HEDRA will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12.

•
City Council will conduct a workshop on Monday, November 16 th at 5:30
p.m. to discuss the 2021 budget.
•
Tomorrow, Tuesday, November 3, is Election Day. Polls are open 7
am to 8 pm.
•
Compost your pumpkin at our Pumpkin Drop-off from 3 pm on
Friday, November 6 to 8 pm on Sunday, November 8. Please remove
paint, candles, wax, or other non-organic material. Location is the
Dakota County Transportation Shop, 900 County Road 47.
•
With respect, honor, and gratitude, we recognize our military
veterans. Veterans Day is Wednesday, November 11.
•
City Offices will be closed November 11 in observance of Veterans
Day.
At noon Thursday, November 12, “Hastings Businesses Getting

er” is a webinar overview of the Energy Smart
Energy Smart-
program for businesses to conserve energy and reduce overhead. The
Hastings and Xcel Energy’s
webinar is co-hosted by the City of
Partners in Energy. Register on the City website.
