HomeMy WebLinkAbout12/09/91Hastings Planning Commission Minutes of the December 9, 1991 meeting The regular meeting of the Hastings Planning Commission was called to order by Commissioner Reinardy at 7:00 p.m. Commissioners Present: Bolesworth, Dredge, Reinardy, Featherstone and Mesaros Commissioners Absent: Anderson, Zender and Patzke Staff Present: City Planner Czech Commissioner Reinardy called for additions or corrections to the minutes of the regular meeting of November 25, 1991. There being no additions or corrections to the minutes, the minutes were approved. Future Planning Commission Composition The Planning Commission discussed with staff issues relating to the composition of the Planning Commission with respect to the number of members. The Planning Commission evaluated whether it was better to have seven or nine members. MINUTES UPDATES/ OTHER BUSINESS Commissioner Patzke joined the meeting at 7:04 p.m. Commissioner Featherstone moved, Commissioner Reinardy made a second, to have the Planning Commission remain at nine members so as to allow more diversity, skill and more people a chance to serve on the Planning Commission recognizing that the Planning Commission can still function with seven members. Upon vote taken, Ayes, one; Nays, four (Bolesworth, Dredge, Reinardy and Mesaros) Patzke abstained. Commissioner Bolesworth moved, Commissioner Mesaros made a second, to reduce the number of Planning Commission members to seven. Upon vote taken, Ayes, four; Nays, one (Featherstone) Patzke abstained. Sign/Parking Ordinance Update Staff briefly reviewed the most recent drafts for the sign and parking ordinance update. The Planning Commission discussed issues relating to the sign ordinance including, but not limited to, standards contained in the 1982 Uniform Sign Code. There being no further business, Commissioner Featherstone moved, Commissioner Mesaros made a second, to adjourn the meeting at 7:35 p.m. ADJOURN- MENT
