Meeting of January 13, 1992
The regular meeting of the Hastings Planning Commission was called to order by
Commissioner Reinardy at 7:00 p.m.
Commissioners Present: Anderson, Bateman, Mesaros, Reinardy and Zender
Commissioners Absent: Bolesworth and Featherstone
Staff Present:
Commissioner Reinardy called for additions or
corrections to the minutes of the regular meeting
of December 23, 1991. There being no additions or
corrections to the minutes, the minutes were
approved.
Community Development Director Wozniak and City Planner Czech
MINUTES
Community Development Director Wozniak reviewed
his January 8, 1992, memorandum to the Planning
Commission concerning a proposed zoning ordinance
amendment which would create an I-3 Industrial
Park Storage/Service District.
I-3 INDUSTRIAL

STORAGE DISTRICT
The Planning Commission discussed the proposed
I-3 district including, but not limited to, provisions
relating to fencing.
Commissioner Mesaros moved, Commissioner Zender
made a second, to recommend approval to City Council
of an amendment to Chapter 10 of the City Code
causing Sections 10.19 to 10.22 to be deleted in
their entirety and causing adoption of new Sections
10.19 to 10.22 for the purpose of creating the I-3
Industrial Park Storage/Service District as prepared
by staff with the following amendment to Section 10.21,
Subdivision 3 (C) which is to read as follows:
"A certain percentage" as determined by staff
of opaque fencing or landscaping at least six
feet high must be placed around the entire lot
and maintained. Fencing type must be approved by
the Board of Adjustment and Appeals.
Upon vote taken, Ayes, 5; Nays, 0.
Commissioner Mesaros moved, Commissioner Zender
made a second, to recommend approval to City Council
of an amendment to Chapter 10, of the City Code
causing amendment to official zoning map to rezone the
following legally described property from I-1 Industrial
Park to I-3 Industrial Park Storage/Service:
Lots 1, 2 and 3, Block 1, Hastings Industrial
Park No. 4, Dakota County, Minnesota.
Upon vote taken, Ayes, 5; Nays, 0.
Commissioner Reinardy introduced George Bateman
and welcomed him to the Planning Commission.
Czech updated the Planning Commission on recent
staff efforts to update the Comprehensive Plan.
Czech noted that the proposed sign and parking
ordinances would be on the next Planning Commissions
agenda for January 27, 1992.
Commissioner Reinardy inquired about a list of
subcommittees for reviewing various Planning
Commission matters. The Planning Commission and
staff decided to produce a new list of subcommittees
members at the annual meeting in February.
There being no further business, Commissioner
Zender moved, Commissioner Mesaros made a second,
to adjourn the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
