July 27, 2020 - Regular Meeting Agenda
The Hastings Planning Commission of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular
meeting on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom video conference.
Chair Johnson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
1. Call Meeting to Order
Planning Commissioners Present: Johnson, Messina, Siebenaler, Best, Halberg, and Matzke
Planning Commissioners Absent: Romens
Staff Present: Community Development Director John Hinzman
2. Swearing in of Planning Commission
Hinzman administered the Oath of Office to Commissioner Matzke.
3. Approval of Minutes
Motion by Commissioner Halberg to approve the June 8, 2020 Planning Commission
meeting minutes as presented, seconded by Commissioner Siebenaler. Roll call vote: Ayes 4;
Nays 0; abstentions 2 (Best and Matzke). Motion approved.

4. Logs to Lumber - Site Plan #2020-35 - Accessory Building - 2347 Commerce Drive
Hinzman provided a summary of the staff report.
Commissioner Matzke asked how stormwater drainage would be handled. Hinzman stated
the site is served by catch basins which empty into the ditch along Commerce Drive, a more
detailed analysis of stormwater will be conducted as part of the building permit.
Chair Johnson and Commissioner Matzke asked where the stormwater runoff flows. Brian
Lorentzen of Logs to Lumber stated runoff flows downhill towards Commerce Court and
then eastward.
Motion by Commissioner Messina to recommend approval of the Site Plan as presented,
seconded by Commissioner Halberg. Roll call vote: Ayes 6; Nays 0. Motion approved.
Action will be presented at the August 3rd City Council.
5. Other Business
Hinzman provided an update of upcoming Planning Commission activities
6. Adjourn
Commissioner Siebenaler motioned to adjourn at 7:26 p.m., seconded by Chair Johnson. Roll
Call: Ayes 6; Nays 0. Motion approved.
