HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/12/93HASTINGS PLANNING COMMISSION Meeting of April 12, 1993 The regular meeting of the Hastings Planning Commission was called to order by Commissioner Reinardy at 7:02 p.m. Commissioners Present: Anderson, Bolesworth, Onnen, Reinardy and Schommer Commissioners Absent: Bateman and Featherstone Staff Present: Paul Czech, City Planner MINUTES Commissioner Reinardy called for additions or corrections to the regular meeting minutes of March 29, 1993. Commissioner Schommer indicated that the home occupation for 401 West 4th Street did not include a vote. Czech noted that the vote would be reflected as Ayes, 7; Nays, 0. There being no further additions or corrections the minutes were approved as amended. PUBLIC HEARING- MINOR SUBDIVISION A/qD VARIANCE 109 RIVER AND 736 WEST <;ND STREETS Czech reviewed staffs April 6, 1993, memorandum to the Planning Commission concerning a minor subdivision and variance request by Charles Werner for a property at 109 River and 736 West 2nd Streets. Commissioner Relnardy opened the public hearing at 7:03 p.m. There being no comments from the audience, the public hearing was closed. Commissioner Schommer moved, Commissioner Bolesworth made a second, to recommend approval of the minor subdivision (lot line adjustment) between 109 River and 736 West 2nd Streets as well as a rear yard setback variance for an attached garage at 736 West 2nd Street based on the following findings: The lot line adjustment will eliminate any unnecessary jogs in property lines. The proposed lot line adjustment will eliminate a nonconforming setback at 109 River Street thereby making the rear yard setback to the house conforming to city code. If the garage at 736 West 2nd Street were detached, the garage could be located as close as 5 feet to the rear property line. Furthermore, the dwelling at 736 West 2nd Street is more than 37 feet from the proposed rear property line. Upon vote taken, Ayes, 5; Nays, 0. UPDATES/OTHER BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT Czech reviewed actions pertaining to planning matters taken by the City Council at its April 5, 1993 meeting. There being no further business, Commissioner Bolesworthmoved, Commissioner Schommer made a second, to adjourn the meeting at 7:06 p.m.
