HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-02-07 Hastings, Minnesota City Council Minutes January 2, 2007 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at 7:00 PM in the Council Chambers at the Hastings City Hall, 101 East 4"' Street, Hastings, Minnesota. Members Present: Mayor Hicks, City Councilmembers Alongi, Hazlet, Hollenbeck, Schultz, and Slavik Staff Present: City Administrator Dave Osberg Assistant City Administrator Melanie Mesko Lee City Attorney Shawn Moynihan Swearing in of Elected Officials At-large Councilmembers Barb Hollenbeck and Mike Slavik and Mayor Paul J. Hicks were sworn in. Approval of Minutes: Mayor Hicks asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of the regular meeting of December 18, 2006. Hearing none, the minutes were approved as presented. Council Items to be Considered City Administrator Osberg requested that an action item approving the vacation of pedestrian trail be added as Item #2 under Planning. Councilmember Slavik requested that Consent Agenda Item #15 be moved to Item #1 under Administration. Consent Agenda Moved by Councilmember Alongi, seconded by Councilmember Slavik to approve the Consent Agenda as amended. 1. Pay Bills as Audited 2. Resolution-2007 Official Newspaper 3. Authorization to Seek Bids for Construction of Lions Park Shelter 14. Approve Agreement with Brauer&Associates for Parks Comprehensive Plan 15. Public Hearing—Vacation of Easement#2006-61: Schoolhouse Square 2nd Addition Mayor Hicks opened the public hearing at 7:11 p.m. Planning Director Hinzman stated that the no action is being requested at this time; the item will be brought before the Council on January 16, 2007. Hearing no further comment, Mayor Hicks closed the public hearing at 7:11 p.m. Public Hearing—Vacation of Pedestrian Trail, Drainage and Utility Easement Mayor Hicks opened the public hearing at 7:12 p.m. City Attorney Moynihan stated that this is basically an administrative action. Hearing no further comment, Mayor Hicks closed the public hearing at 7:12 p.m. Resolution—Vacation of Pedestrian Trail, Drainage and Utility Easement Moved by Councilmember Schultz, seconded by Councilmember Alongi to approve the easement vacation as presented. 6 Ayes, Nays, None. Copy of resolution on file. Appoint Economic Development Commission Member(Patty Ryman) Councilmember Slavik stated that he would abstain as he works with Ms. Ryman. Moved by Councilmember Schultz, seconded by Councilmember Hazlet to approve the appointment as presented. 5 Ayes, Nays, None. Councilmember Slavik abstained Adjournment Moved by Councilmember Schultz, seconded by Mayor Hollenbeck to adjourn the meeting at 7:14 p.m. 6 Ayes, one. Paul J.
