HomeMy WebLinkAbout09/12/94 HASTINGS PLANNING COMMISSION Meeting of September 12, 1994 The regular meeting of the Hastings Planning Commission was called to order by Commissioner Reinardy at 7:00 p.m. Commissioners Present: Bolesworth, Onnen, Reinardy, Flom and Bateman Commissioners Absent: Schommer Staff Present: City Planner Czech MINUTES Commissioner Reinardy called for additions and corrections to the meeting minutes of August 22, 1994. There being no additions or corrections the minutes were approved. HOME OCCUPATION 1393 JEFFERSON STREET Czech reviewed staffs August 29, 1994 memorandum to the Planning Commission concerning a request by Rachel Foster for approval of a home occupation permit which would allow her a beauty shop at 1393 Jefferson Street. Commissioner Bateman moved, Commissioner Flom made a second, to recommend approval of the home occupation permit subject to Miss Foster complying with all home occupation standards including, but not limited to, a basic fire protection inspection by the Fire Marshal. Upon vote taken, Ayes, 5; Nays, 0. HOME OCCUPATION 1342 WEST 20TH STREET Czech reviewed staffs August 31, 1994 memorandum to the Planning Commission concerning a request by Gerald A. Anderson for approval of a home occupation permit which would allow him to reface cabinets, build tables/bar tops, etc. and laminating for a home business at 1342 West 20th Street. Commissioner Bolesworth moved, Commissioner Onnen made a second, to recommend approval of the home occupation permit subject to Mr. Anderson complying with all home occupation standards including, but not limited to, a basic fire protection inspection by the Fire Marshall. Upon vote taken, Ayes, 5; Nays, 0. SETBACK VARIANCE- 210 WEST 10TH STREET Czech reviewed staffs August 24, 1994 memorandum to the Planning Commission concerning a request by Dan and Jennifer Kranz for approval of a 15.5 foot variance to the required side corner setback of 20 feet and a two foot variance to the required five foot rear yard setback for a proposed garage. The Planning Commission discussed issues relating to the setback variance including, but not limited to, drainage issues associated with Eddy Street and existing retaining walls located on the subject property. UPDATES/OTHER BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT Commissioner Bateman moved, Commissioner Bolesworth made a second, to recommend approval of a 15.5 foot variance to allow a new garage to be constructed 4.5 feet from the east/side corner property line based on findings as spelled out in the applicants August 18, 1994 letter to the Planning Commission. Upon vote taken, Ayes, 5; Nays, 0. Commissioner Bateman moved, Commissioner Reinardy made a second, to recommend approval of a two foot variance to allow a new garage to be constructed three feet from the north/rear property line based on findings as spelled out in the applicants August 18, 1994 letter to the Planning Commission. Upon vote taken, Ayes, 3; Nays, 2 (Flom and Onnen). Czech reviewed City Council actions relating to planning matters which occurred at the September 6, 1994 City Council meeting. Commissioner Bolesworth moved, Commissioner Flom made a second, to adjourn the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
