HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/24/95HASTINGS PLANNING COMMISSION Meeting of April 24, 1995 The regular meeting of the Hastings Planning Commission was called to order by Commissioner Reninardy at 7:00 p.m. Commissioners Present: Schommer, Flom, Bateman, Bolesworth, Harrington, Onnen and Reinardy Commissioners Absent: None StaffPresent: City Planner Czech MINUTES Commissioner Reinardy called for additions or corrections to the meeting minutes of March 13, 1995. There being no additions or corrections the minutes were approved. SITE PLAN- 1211 NORTH FRONTAGE ROAD- TIRES PLUS Czech reviewed staffs April 18, 1995 memorandum to the Planning Commission concerning a request by Tires Plus Group, Ltd for approval of a site plan for a new Tire Plus store at 1211 North Frontage Road. The Planning Commission discussed issues relating to the site plan including, but not limited to, the location of the proposed store, driveway width and zoning of the property. Commissioner Bateman moved, Commissioner Harrington made a second, to recommend approval of the site plan subject to the following conditions: The proposed structure and accessory items including, but not limited to, the parking lot and landscaping shall be completed pursuant to the approved site plan. Upon request for occupancy of the building, all uncompleted items contained within the site plan shall be addressed pursuant to the escrow requirements contained within the site plan review provisions of the City Zoning Ordinance (Section 10.24). That the applicant/developer adheres to comments 1-4 as listed in Tom Montgomery's April 18, 1995 memorandum. Upon vote taken, Ayes, 7; Nays, 0. NATIONAL REGISTER/ HASTINGS PRESERVATION SITE-FIrST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH UPDATES/OTHER BUSINESS Czech indicated that HPC Director John Grossman would present this item. Grossman reviewed his April 18, 1995 memorandum to the Planning Commission concerning a request to nominate First Presbyterian Church to the National Registrar of Historic Places and be listed as a Hastings Preservation Site. Ethel Thieling was present at the meeting and provided the Planning Commission with additional information concerning First Presbyterian Church. The Planning Commission discussed issues relating to First Presbyterian Church including, but not limited to, procedures to make changes to the church and preservation of historical structures. Commissioner Schommer moved, Commissioner Bateman made a second, to nominate First Presbyterian Church to the National Registrar of I-Iistoric Places and to the Hastings list of preservation sites based on findings that: Nominating First Presbyterian Chumh is consistent with the Comprehensive Plan. Nominating First Presbyterian Church will have not adverse effects on the surrounding neighborhood. Nominating First Presbyterian Church is consistent with planning objectives for preservation of the site. Upon vote taken, Ayes, 7; Nays, 0. Czech reviewed City Council actions pertaining to planning related matter. There being no further business, Commissioner Bolesworth moved, Commissioner Bateman made a second, to adjourn the meeting at 7:27 p.m.
