HomeMy WebLinkAbout03-21-2019 PSAC Abbreviated MinutesCity of Hastings Public Safety Advisory Commission Abbreviated Meeting Minutes March 21, 2019 – 6:30 p.m. Volunteer Room 1) Call to Order – Co-Chair Pemble – Members present: Pemble, Blackstad, Rohloff. Since there was not a quorum, the meeting was an informational session for the group with no formal action taken. 2) Welcome/Introductions – Pemble a) Fire Department new employee introduction – No new member due to schedule conflict. 3) New Business a) Police Department Updates – Schafer – Preview of council updates 3/22/19 shared. b) Fire Department Updates – Schutt – Shared flood update presentation from PW. c) Commission Event Commitments i) Police Open House – May 14th. – Those present expressed interest in assisting police with organizing this event. ii) NNO Lion’s Park Event – August 6th. –Those present expressed interest in holding the event again with assistance from the Park Commission. iii) Fire Department Open House – Expressed interest in assisting as in the past. d) Commission Applicant Interviews – Two citizens have applied for the current commission vacancy. Schafer is working on scheduling interviews before the next meeting. e) Flood Preparation – (See HFD Updates above) 4) Old Business a) Year-end summary – Pemble distributed draft of the 2018 Annual Report. It was also emailed to the entire commission for input. b) Tobacco/Vaping Committee Memo – Distributed at the meeting and email for review and discussion at the next meeting. 5) Public Comments: Resident Tony Engsether of 3375 Red Wing Blvd. expressed concerns about on-going school bus stop-arm violation in front of his residence. Chief Schafer explained the history, obstacles, and possible solutions. 6) Establish/confirm next meeting date – April 25, 2019 7) Adjournment
