Background Information: Seal coating is a necessary pavement management practice which extends a roadway’s usable life by rejuvenating the pavement surface with oil and traprock. Approximately 2.7 miles of the 100 City wide miles of streets are proposed to be seal coated. To assist in locking in any loose traprock, one cul-de- sac, Cobblestone Court, will receive an additional treatment called a fog seal. Financial Impact: The engineer’s estimate for the entire project is $58,500. $44,000 (2.3 miles) will be paid out of the 2018-1 Street Improvements project to seal coat last year’s reconstruct project. The remaining $14,500 (0.45 miles) will be paid out of development escrow funds collected for 2017 Allina project, Wallin 16th Addition, and United Methodist Church project.
