Public Safety Advisory Commission
Abbreviated Minutes
June 21, 2018 – 6:30 p.m.
Volunteer Room
1) Call to Order – Chair Bryon Ascheman
2) Welcome/Introductions – Ascheman
3) New Business
a) Fire Department employee introduction to the commission.
i) Fire did not have a representative as the Chief is out of town and Asst. Chief was on a rescue
call.
b) Police Department Updates
i) Informed them of the new process for hiring and it will happen in August
ii) Getting ready for Rivertown Days, especially with the new location.
iii) SRO Kline to assist numerous events this summer including the SPARK events.
4) Old Business
a) Police Week comments
i) More product (dogs/chips) will be needed (we knew that)
ii) Need to start cooking earlier to meet the rush
b) NNO community event discussion
i) PSAC would like to lead another community event at Lions Park again.
ii) Food and supplies to be determined.
iii) Since Target traditionally assisted with giveaways and sent representatives, the group will
be seeking out new sponsors. Walmart was suggested.
iv) The group will have a NNO planning workshop on July 12th at 6:30 pm.
c) Police Mission Statement development –
i) The group continued to work on this and made significant strides.
5) Establish/confirm next official meeting date – August 16, 2018 at 6:30 pm. - Ascheman
