HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/27/97Hastings Planning Commission Minutes of May 27, 1997 Commissioner Schommer opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. Commissioners Present: Donndelinger, Bolesworth, Schommer, Harrington, Schultz, Strauss and Flom. Staff Present: Community Development Director Wozniak, City Administrator Osberg & Zoning Administrator Weiland. Minutes: Commissioner Strauss noted that she did not second the motion to approve the Riverwood 7th Addition Preliminary Plat. Commissioner Flom indicated that it was he who made the second of that motion. The minutes were approved as revised. Public Hearing: 1350 North Frontage Rd - Comp. Plan Amendment/Rezone: Commissioner Schommer opened the public hearing at 7:07 p.m. Wozniak presented background information regarding a proposed Comprehensive Plan Land Use reclassification and rezone of the Hastings Housing Coalition site situated at 1350 North Frontage Rd. Pat Handlson of the Hastings Housing Coalition described the development plans for the property. Commissioner Harrington moved and Commissioner Strauss made a second to recommend approval to City Council of a Comprehensive Plan Land Use reclassification of 1350 Vermillion St. from C (Commercial) to U-II (Urban Residential) and a rezoning of the property from C-1 (General Commerce) to R-3 PRD (Planned Residential Development). Upon vote taken, Ayes 6; Nays, 1. Motion carried. Site Plan/Variance - Hastings Civic Arena Expansion: Wozniak and Osberg presented background information regarding the Hastings Civic Arena Expansion. Commissioner Bolesworth moved and Commissioner Strauss made a second to recommend approval to the Hastings City Council of the Hastings Civic Arena Expansion site plan subject to the following: Development of a detailed site grading, parking lot and driveway plan to be approved by the Public Works and Community Development Directors. Development of a detailed landscaping plan subject to approval by the Community Development Director. and; to recommend approval to City Council of a 13' variance to Agriculture from yard structure setback requirements to allow the New Ice Rink being constructed in conjunction with the Hastings Civic Arena expansion to be construction to within 7' of the Arena site's west property boundary. Upon vote taken Ayes, 7; Nay, 0. Motion carried. Adjournment: Commissioner Bolesworth moved and Commissioner Flom made a second to adjourn the meeting at 8:00 p.m.
