The City Council of the City of Hastings met in a Special Meeting on
Monday, September 23, 1985 at 6:00 p.m. in the meeting roam of the American
Legion Hall, 50 Sibley Street, Hastings, Minnesota, for a Revenue Sharing
Public Hearing.
Members Present: Councilmember Berg, Kulzer, Bond, Nesbitt, Plan,
Mathiowetz and Mayor Stoffel.

Mayor calls the meeting to order and opened the Public Hearing at 6: 07 p.m.
John Hopkins made a presentation on behalf of the Hockey Boosters and
HYAA and requested $10,000 for materials for meeting rooms to be constructed
over the entry way at the Hastings Ice Arena. He expressed a need in the
comnuni ty for meeting roams where alcoholic beverages are not served. He
indicated that he felt that volunteer help could be used to construct the
facility as long as materials were purchased. He further indicated that
he would appreciate it if the Council could make available at least a portion
of the $10,000.00 to match with volunteer activities for raising other monies.
No one else appeared in the audience to speak towards the revenue sharing
allocations. Councilmember Werner arrived at 6: 18 p.m.

Mayor Stoffel then asked the City Council members if they desired
input into the Revenue Sharing Hearing. Councilmember Plan, Mathiowetz, and
Nesbitt indicated no, Councilmember Bond requested $900.00 for a New Years
Eve ride program, $1,000.00 for new uniforms for the Hastings Hawks, $2,000.00
for the Reforestation Program, funds for the Historical Commission and the
Historic Preservation Group, and funds for the NRRC. Councilmember Werner
also indicated support for new uniforms for the Hastings Hawks in the amount
of $1,000. Councilmember Berg requested that Revenue Sharing Funds to use to
offset some of the cost for curb and gutter in streets for east Hastings.
Councilmember Nesbitt requested funds for Second Streets sewer and water,
Third Street storm sewer drainage, storm sewer system for Second and Spring
area, and boat dockage area in the Lake Rebecca storm sewer area. Mayor
Lu Stoffel indicated that she thought Revenue Sharing Funds should be used
towards a Youth Center and also to restore the railroad depot. Hearing no
other cornnents the Mayor closed the Public Hearing.
Moved by Councilmember Bond, seconded by Councilmember Berg to adjourn
the meeting at 6:39 p.m. 7 Ayes; Nayes, None.
