HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-05-77 105 Hastings, Minnesota July 5, 1977 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Tuesday, July 5, 1977 at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. - Members present: Councilman Shannon, Trautmann, Fischer, Latch, Erickson, Novak, Karnick, Collins, and Mayor Petersen. Members absent: None. The Mayor asked if there were any corrections or additions to the Minutes of the meeting of June 20, 1977 and hearing none declared the Minutes approved as read. Moved by Councilman Erickson, seconded by Councilman Karnick to order in the East Hastings Sewer and Water Extension Project. Ayes, 8; Nayes, none. RESOLUTION #112-77 ORDER IN EAST HASTINGS PROJECT SEWER & WATER Councilman Erickson introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION #112A-77 AWARD BID EAST HASTINGS WATER & SEWER PROJECT WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the East Hastings Sewer and Water Extension Project the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Bidder Bid Amount Orfei & Sons $655,022.18 Jack Olsen $687,007.50 $717,569.50 $728,730.30 $731,49 7.50 $743,165.00 Austin P. Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman Karnick to increase the salary of Harry Welch, Assistant Ice Arena Manager, in the amount of $1,000 for the year 1977, effective July 1, 1977. Councilman Latch introduced the following resolution and'moved its adoption: WHEREAS, the City of Hastings' 1976 tax levy resolution for taxes payable in 1977 was in the amount of 100 percent of the [. II levy limit base for 1977 as permitted by Minnesota Statutes, and __ WHEREAS, the 1977 Legislature codified as M.S. 275.52 (5) authorized certain cities which, in the preceding levy year, levied at least 98 percent of their levy limit base to levy start- ing in 1978 an additional amount not to exceed 10 percent of its 1977 adjusted levy limit base, with such amount so levied to be- come a permanent part of the levy limit base. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hastings, as follows: 1. That 10 percent of the 1977 adjusted levy limit base is hereby determined to be an amount not to exe.ed $139,332.00. 2. That this City Council shall meet at 7:30 o'clock p.m. on the 15th day of August, 1977, at the Hastings City Hall, for the purpose of holding a public hearing on the proposed permanent levy limit base adjustment of an amount not to exceed $139,332.00. At said hearing, all persons desiring to comment on the proposed adjustment will be heard. The funds to be used to affect the combined WAC and SAC charges if they install water recycling and purification equipment. The starting wage to be $1,258.00 per month.
