HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-18-72 1081 Hastings, Minnesota December 18, 1972 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Monday, December 18, 1972 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. n \ Members present: Councilmen Novak, Collins, Hallberg, O'Connor, Wilson, Driscoll, and Mayor Rotty. Members absent: Gouncilmen Kane and Christenson. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Councilman Collins introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: BIDS FOR STREET DUMP TRUCK AND PICK-UP WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for furnish- ing the City with one (1) dump truck and one {I) pickup for the Street Department, the following bids were received complying with the adver- tisement: BIDDER (Dump Truck) BID PRICE TRADE-IN NET BID Bahls Motor & Implement (Garwood) $10,802.34 $1,700.00 $9,102.34 (Chas Olson) $11,190.32 $1,700.00 $9,490.32 (Johnson Dunn)$10,976.34 $1,700.00 $9,276.34 (Pick-up Truck) Weber Ford $ 3,077.00 $ 400.00 $2,677.00 Freed Chevrolet $ 3,700.00 $ 680.00 $3,020.00 r Bahls Motor & Implement $ 3,066.45 $ 566.45 $2,500.00 WHEREAS, it appears that Bahls Motor & Implement is the lowest responsible bidder, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Bahls Motor & Implement, for the purchase of one (1) 25,500 pound G.V.W. dump truck with a Johnson Dunn body at the net bid price of $9,276.34, and one (1) one-half ton pickup truck according to the specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed and authorized to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, after a contract has been signed. Adopted by the City Council this 18th day of December, 1972. Moved by Councilman Driscoll, seconded by Councilman Hall- berg to approve a leave of absence for Thomas Donahue, Engineering Assistant from January 2, 1973 to the third week in June 1973 for the purpose of obtaining a Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Minnesota. Ayes, Councilmen Collins, Hallberg, O'Connor, Wilson, and Driscoll. Councilman Novak abstained. Motion carried. Moved by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Driscoll to approve the following partial payments for work performed on the 1972 Improvement Program and construction on the Public Works Building and Public Safety Building. Moved by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Hallberg to approve the second reading to amend Section 9 of "AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING THE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL OF GARBAGE AND RUBBISH WITHIN THE CITY OF HASTINGS~ Ayes, all; Nays, none. Moved by Councilman O'Connor, seconded by Councilman Novak to approve the second reading of "AN AMENDMENT TO THE CITY ZONING ORDINANCE" dated December 7, 1970 rezoning Highland Hills Development and Old Bridge First Addition from Agriculture to Residential I for Planned Single Unit Development. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman Driscoll to approve the second reading of the "SIDEWALK ORDINANCE" dated Dec- ember 7, 1972 and the amendment of Sub-paragraph F of Paragraph 5 of the Sub-division Ordinance entitled "SIDEWALKS AND DRIVEWAYS". Ayes, Councilmen Novak, Collins, O'Connor, Wilson, Driscoll. Nays, Councilman Hallberg. Motion passed. Moved by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Driscoll to set the year end meeting for Thursday December 28th, at 5:00 o'clock P.M. Ayes, all; Nays, none. o Moved by Councilman Driscoll, seconded by Councilman Hall- berg to approve the attendance of Wallace 'H. Erickson to ,the Labor Relations Seminar to be held on January 10th and 11th at the Univer- sity of Minnesota, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Moved by Councilman Driscoll, seconded by Councilman Wilson to approve the re-appointment of Dave Pederson, Tony Willeke, and Paul Kranz as members to the Natural Resources Commission for a three (3) year term expiring December 31, 1975. Ayes, all; Nays, none. 108' Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman O'Connor to approve in accordance with Article 9 of the Union Contract of International Union of Operating Engineers AFL-CIO Local No. 49, a $25.00 raise retroactive to July 1st 1972 for Richard Doffing who has received his Class C Water Supply System Operator's Classification. The City Clerk read the following letter: December 18, 1972 ~ The Honorable Evarist Rotty Hastings, Minnesota Dear Mayor Rotty: This is to inform you and the Council Members of the City of Hastings that i hereby tender my resignation as Police Detective of the City of Hastings effective December 31, 1972. I have accepted a position as Chief of Police for the City of Farming- ton, Minnesota. Sincerely yours, Robert E.
