HomeMy WebLinkAbout11-20-72 1070 Hastings, Minnesota November 20, 1972 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Monday, November 20, 1972 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. Members present: Councilmen Novak, Kane, Collins, Hall- berg, O'Connor, Wilson, Driscoll, Christ- enson, and Mayor Rotty. r \ Members absent: None. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Councilman Driscoll introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: BIDS FOR PARKS TRACTOR AND LOADER WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for furnishing the City with one (1) Tractor and Loader for the Parks Department, the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: BIDDER BID-PRICE TRADE-IN NET BID Carlson Tractor & Equ~p. $7,176.00 $3,400.00 $3,776.00 Midway Tractor & Equip. $7,556.62 $3,200.00 $4,356.62 Bahls Motor & Impl. $7,593.00 $2,653.10 $4,839.90 The Zeco Company $8,526.00 $3,250.00 $5,276.00 WHEREAS, it appears that Carlson Tractor and Equipment Company is the lowest responsible bidder, r l NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Carlson Tractor and Equipment Company, for the purchase of one (1) Tractor and Loader according to the specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby directed and authorized to return forewith to all dibbers the deposits made with their bids, after a contract has been s1gned. Ayes, all; Nays, none. , 1071 Councilman Driscoll introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION - NORTHERN STATES POWER CO. BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota, hereby accepts the proposal of the Northern States Power Company, a Minnesota corporation, to furnish street lighting service with all lights located or to be located in said City, and hereby approved all rates, terms, conditions, and spec- ifications in the Street Lighting Contract made a part of the proposal of said company, and the proper officers of the City are hereby authorized and directed to execute the aforesaid contract for and in the name of the City, and to affix the corporate seal thereto. Solberg Construction Company $19,286.85. Moved by Councilman O'Connor, seconded by Councilman Hallberg to approve the appointment of Pauline Tulson to fill the unexpired term of Pamela Thomas on the Hastings Natural Resources Commission. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman O'Connor to accept the resignation of Mr. Donald Kulla as the Hastings Library Janitor dated November 30, 1972. Ayes, all; Nays, none. o Moved by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Novak to approve the appointments of Lois Jensen, John McKane, and Erwin Schnirring for a three year term to the Hastings Library Board, .fEe~tive as of January 1, 1973. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Moved by Councilman Christenson, seconded by Councilman Driscoll to approve the re~appointment of Werner Fasbender for a three year term on the Police Civil Service Commission. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Councilman Hallberg introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: Landfill will be open as foUows: Monday and Wednesday Friday Saturday Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday, & Holidays 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. 8:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Closed Resident Fees: $3.00 for Windshield Stickers (Good for Calendar year) $1.00 per load for pick-up trucks and trailers Up to $6.00 for large trucks Dumping permits must be purchased for trailers & trucks o Non-Resident Fees: $1.00 per load for a car $2.00 per load for pick-up trucks and trailers Collectors and industry will be charged and billed monthly at $6.00 per load. Independant Contract Hauler (Hastings Sanitary Disposal) Rate - $600.00 per month 1072 Councilman Wilson seconded the motion to adopt said resolution and the same was passed by the following vote: Ayes, all; Nays, none. Moved by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman O'Connor to refer to the Planning Commission the final approval of Phase II Development Plan for Imperial Estates 1st Addition described as follows: r ! That part of Imperial Estates 1st Addition lying North and East of Westview Drive and Easterly of Pleasant Drive, except Phase I Devel- opment Plan. All within the S~ of NE~ of Section 29, Tl15N, R17W in the City of Hastings, Dakota County, Minnesota. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Councilman Driscoll introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION FUNDING PUBLIC SAFETY & PUBLIC WORKS BUILDING WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota deems it is advisable, expedient and necessary that the City of Hastings construct a Public Works Garage and a Public Safety Building; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Capital Improvements Program adopted by the City Council on August 21, 1972, said facilities is a high priority need; and WHEREAS, contracts for construction of above mentioned build- ings were awarded by the City Council on October 26, 1972; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Hastings, Minnesota; I ! That a construction account be established and the following amounts be transferred from the Sewer Income Account in the amount of $175,612.00. Funds to be named Public Works Construction Account and Public Safety Construction Account. Adopted by the City Council this 20th day of November 1972.
