January 3, 1972
The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in
a regular meeting on Monday;-January 3, 1972 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in
the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
Members present: Councilmen Novak, Kane, Collins, Hallberg,
O'Connor, Wilson, Christenson and Mayor
Rotty.

Members absent: Counc ilman Driscoll.
Minutes of the last meetings weTe read and approved.
Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman Christenson
that the following Cigarette Licenses be approved for the calendar year
1972, and that a letter from the City Council be enclosed with the
license requesting closer supervision by the Licensee on the sale of
cigarettes to minors: Ayes, Councilmen Novak, Kane, Collins, Hallberg,
Wilson and Christenson; Nays, Councilman O'Connor. Motion passed.

Councilman Hallberg introduced the following resolution and
moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED, That pursuant to statutory authority, that
John L. Davidson, City Engineer for and on behalf of the City of Hastings
is hereby authorized to request and obtain from the Minnesota Department
of Highways, needed engineering and technical service during the Y$sr
1972; for which payment will be made by the City of Hastings upon
receipt of verified claims from the Commissioner of Highways.

tion and the same was passed" by the following vote: Ayes, all; Nays,
none.
Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman Wilson
to approve the following partial' payments for work performed in the
1971 Construction Program: Ayes, all; Nays, none.

that all employees of the Fire and Police Departments of the City of
Hastings, exclusive of the chiefs of the respective departments, be
granted a 5.5% wage increase as follows, and that all other matters
as stated in the 1971 Resolutions relative to wages, hours, working
conditions, procedures, etc. remain the same: Ayes, Councilmen Novak,
Kane, Collins, Hallberg, Wilson and Christenson; Nays, Councilman
O'Connor. Motion passed.
