HomeMy WebLinkAbout12-20-71 860-A y Hastings, Minnesota December 20, 1971 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Monday, December 20, 1971 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. Members present: Councilmen Novak, Kane, Collins, Hallberg, O'Connor, Wilson, Christenson and Mayor Rotty. --. Members absent: Councilman Driscoll. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Councilman Novak introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: BIDS FOR SOUTH INDUSTRIAL PARK WELL PUMPHOUSE WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for the construc- tion of a Well Pumphouse in the Industrial Park, the following bids were received complying with the advertisement: Graus Construction Company Lund Martin Company Lee Richert Company Karl Dedolph Berglund-Johnson D. W. Hickey Co. $47,409. 48,195. 53,412. 55,253. 54,056. 58 , 858 . AND WHEREAS, it appears that Graus Construction Company is the lowest responsible bidder, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Hastings: ---.., The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Graus Construction Company for the con- struction of a a Well Pumphouse according to the specifications there- fore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, after a contract has been signed. Adopted by the City Council this 20th day of December, 1971. Councilman Novak introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: BIDS ON FRONT END LOADER AND SNOW LOADER , ) WHEREAS, pursuant to an advertisement for bids for furnishing the City with one (1) 2~ Y~d Capacity Articulated Front End Loader and one (1) Two-Stage Snow Loader for the Street Department, the follow- ing bids were received complying with the advertisement: Snow Loader Itasca Equipment Company Macqueen Equipment Company $8,267.00 7,992.00 861 Front End Loader Ziegler, Inc. Borchert-Ingersoll, Inc. $32,130.00 34,109.00 36,947.96 35,366.00 Minnesota Tractor Company Hall Equipment Company AND WHEREAS, the award for the Snow Loader was recommended to be made to Itasca Equipment Company for a Wausau Sno-Thro Two-Stage Model 102-749SCA because the low bidder could not meet width specifi- cations without altering the standard design of their bid machine, AND WHEREAS, it appears that Minnesota Tractor Company is the lowest responsible bidder on the Front End Loader, NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of Hastings: The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract with Itasca Equipment Company for a Snow Loader and Minnesota Tractor Company for a Front End Loader according to the specifications therefore approved by the City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all bidders the deposits made with their bids, after a contract has been signed. ATTEST: 1u I ~ t:~M- city Clerk g C&yo97 Councilman Hallberg seconded the motion to adopt said resolu- tion and the same was passed by the following vote: Ayes, all; Nays, none. -' The Mayor declared open the continued Public Hearing on the application of the Hastings Sewing Machine Company, 220 East Second Street for a variance to the Sign Ordinance. All persons present were given an opportunity to be heard. After lengthy discussion, it was moved by Councilman Christenson, seconded by Councilman Kane to continue the hearing until February 21, 1972 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. and to refer the proposal of the Coalition Committee to the Planning Commission for study. Ayes, Councilmen Novak, Kane, Collins, O'Connor and Christenson; Nays, Councilmen Hallberg and Wilson. Motion carried. The Mayor declared open the Public Hearing on the application of Ray Rother for a Special Use Permit to construct an addition to the existing structure on the North 23 feet of Lot 16, All of Lots 17 & 18 and the South 1/2 of Lot 19, Block 4, Tripps Addition for the purpose of auto repair. All persons present were given an opportunity to be heard. Moved by Councilman Wilson, seconded by Councilman Kane to close the Public Hearing because Mr. Rother failed to present plans as to the location of the proposed structure. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Councilman Hallberg introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: r ACCEPTANCE OF SONTAG'S 2ND ADDITION FINAL PLAT BE IT RESOLVED that the plat of Sontag's 2nd Addition to the City of Hastings, Dakota County, Minnesota legally described as follows: The Southeast 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4 of Section 29, Town- ship 115, Range 17, except that part described as follows: Beginning at the Southeast corner of said Southeast 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4; thence on an assumed bearing of West along the South line of said Southeast 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4, a distance of 280.00 feet; thence North 00 degrees, 00 minutes, 40 seconds East parallel to the 862 East line of said Southeast 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4, a distance of 163.00 feet; thence West, a distance of 40.00 feet; thence North 00 degrees, 00 minutes, 40 seconds East, a distance of 377.00 feet; thence East, a distance of 130.00 feet; thence North 00 degrees, 00 minutes, 40 seconds East, a distance of 26.50 feet; thence East, a distance of 190.00 feet, to the East line of said Southeast 1/4 of the Southwest 1/4; thence South 00 degrees, 00 minutes, 40 seconds West, along said East line, a distance of 566.50 feet ot the Point of Beginning.
