The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in an
adjourned regular meeting on Wednesday, December 30, 1970 at 4:30 P.M. in
the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
Members present: Councilmen Soleim, Novak, Kane, Hallberg,
Christenson and Mayor Rotty.
Members absent:
Councilmen Driscoll, Fischer and Mayer.

Moved by Councilman Soleim, seconded by Councilman Hallberg
to pass the third reading to amend an Ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE
J TO ESTABLISH RULES GOVERNING THE FUNCTIONING .OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF HASTINGS, MINNESOTA"oto finally read as follows: Ayes, all; Nays, none.
The City Council of the City of Hastings does ordain:
Rule 8. Committees
(a) The Mayor shall, at a regular Council meeting in January of each year,
present to the City Council in writing a list of proposed committee mem-
bers for the following committees, which committees shall have the respon-
sibility indicated:

Boat Harbor, Nursing Home, City Hall,
Library, recreation program and
facilities, League of Minnesota
Municipalities.

Operation and control of the Parks
Dept., Street Dept., Water Dept.,
Utilities, Sanitation and/or Land-
Fill facilities and function,
building permits and street openings.
Maintenance and repair of City
structures and facilities.
Preparation of Assessments
Provide guidance for and communica-
tions with the Planning Commission,
Human Rights Commission,
Recreation & Open Space Planning.
Provide liaison with other govern-
mental units, i.e., County Commis-
sioners, School Board, etc.
Operation and control of the Fire
Department, Ambulance Service and
Civil Defense.
Finance and Budgeting of the
Police Department

.(d) The Mayor shall designate the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of each com-
mittee. Each Councilman may serve as Chairman of no more than one committee.
(e) Each Committee shall consist of five (5) Councilmen.
Adopted by the City Council this 30th day of December, 1970.

that the bills as audited be approved and the City Clerk be instructed to
