HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-15-70 523 Hastings, Minnesota June 15, 1970 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Monday, June 15, 1970 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. Members present: Councilmen Soleim, Novak, Kane, Hallberg, Driscoll, Mayer and Mayor Rotty. Ii I ' I I \ Members absent: Councilmen Christenson and Fischer. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Moved by Councilman Hallberg, seconded by Councilman Soleim to hold over the second reading of an amendment to an Ordinance entitled "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF HASTINGS, MINNESOTA ESTABLISHING REGULATIONS GOVERN- ING USE OF THE HASTINGS CITY DUMP AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF" . Aye s, all; Nay s, none. Councilman Mayer introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific Railroad Com- pany has advised the City of Hastings that said railroad proposes to discon- tinue passenger trains Numbers 1 and 4 which presently service the City of Hastings area and other communities; and WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of Hastings that the continued operation of these trains so as to continue the service to the City of Hastings arm is extremely desirable; and f' WHEREAS, these trains serve colleges in the area and provide trans- portation to the Twin Cities for various major league sports and cultural attractions and theatres; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED By the City Council of the City of Hastings that the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad Company is urged and requested to not disc0ntinue trains Numbers 1 and 4 and that in the alternative, that said trains be continued in operation so that the City of Hastings area will continue to be serviced by them. The City Clerk read two letters from the Police Civil Service Commission, signed by the. Chairman, Ted Riches that having satisfactorily completed the six month probationary period, Alfred Altendorfer be appointed to the permanent rank of Patrolman effective June 15, 1970 and that Russell Sorenson be appointed to the permanent rank of Patrolman effective July 1, 1970, both at a monthly wage of $735.00. r--; Moved by Councilman Driscoll, seconded by Councilman Kane to approve the Commission's recommendations regarding Alfred A1tendorfer and Russell Sorenson. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Councilman Driscoll introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: WHEREAS, Industrial Builders, Inc. has previously fi1eda'petition dated April 20, 1970 requesting'rezoning to Commercial 1 of the following property: Block 2, Valley Manor Addition AND WHEREAS, Industrial Builders, Inc. has now submitted a written 524 request that said petition now be withdrawn; and WHEREAS, The Council is agreeable to said withdrawal, NO~ TpEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, That said petition be and hereby is withdrawn, and said petition shall be of no further legal effect.
