HomeMy WebLinkAbout01-05-70 443 Hastings, Minnesota January 5, 1970 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Monday, January 5, 1970 at 8:00 o'clock P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. Members present: Councilmen Soleim, Novak, K8ne, Hallberg, Christenson, Gunderman and Mayor Rotty. n Members absent: Councilmen Driscoll and Fischer. Minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Moved by Councilman Gunderman, seconded by Councilman Novak that the following Cigarette Licenses be approved for the calendar year of 1970: Ayes, all; Nays, none. For S. V. Peter Lametti .$45,681.37 The City Clerk read two letters from the Police Civil Service Com- mission, signed by their secretary Werner Fasbender recommending that Alfred A. Altendorfer be appointed as Patrolman for the Hastings Police Department effective December 16, 1969 and that Russel J. Sorenson be appointed as Patrolman for the Hastings Police Department effective January 1, 1970, both a~:a starting wage of $625. per month. Moved by Councilman Kane, seconded by Councilman Christenson to approve the Conunission's reconunendation regarding Alfred A. Altendorfer. Ayes, all; Nays, none. 444 Moved by Councilman Christenson, seconded by Councilman Hallberg to approve the Conunission's recommendation regarding Russel J. Sorenson. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Moved by Councilman Gunderman, seconded by Councilman Soleim that the City Clerk be authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the following equipment for the Hastings Street Department, bids to be opened at 8:00 o'clock P.M. on Monday, January 19, 1970 in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. Ayes, all; Nays, none. One Remote Control Desk Set One Mobile and Portable Radio (Combination) Three Mobile Solid State Units Moved by Councilman Soleim, seconded by Councilman Hallberg that the official title of the Road & Bridge Department be changed to the Street Department and the Sewage Disposal Department be changed to the Waste Water Treatment Plant. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Councilman Novak introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING ADMINISTRATOR~ CLERK-TREASURER OFFICE WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Hastings believes that the operation and functioning of the City may be improved by the creation of the office of Administrator, Clerk-Treasurer; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the office of Administrator, Clerk-Treasurer is hereby created. The duties of this office shall be these duties formerly performed by the City Clerk-Treasurer. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Wallace H. Erickson be and hereby is appointed to this position. Adopted by the City Council this 5th day of January, 1970. Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman Soleim that the 1970 salaries for all City non-union employees be set at a temporary increase of 7% over 1969 base salaries; that the part-time Engineerb secretary rate be set at $3.00 per hour; that the hourly clerical Water and City Clerk's office be set at $2.75 per hour. Ayes, all; Nays, none. Moved by Councilman Novak, seconded by Councilman Kane that the bills as audited be approved and the City Clerk be instructed to issue warrants for the same.
