HomeMy WebLinkAbout06-17-96 Hastings, Minnesota June 17, 1996 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Monday, June 17, 1996 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 10 1 4th Street East, Hastings, Minnesota. r Members Present: Councilmember Riveness, Johnson, Simacek, Hicks, Moratzka and Mayor Werner Members Absent: None Staff Members Present: Dave Osberg, City Administrator; Tom Montgomery, Public Works Director; Mike Wozniak, Community Development Director; Barb Thompson, City Clerk; and Shawn Moynihan, City Attorney Mayor Werner asked if there were any corrections to the minutes of the APPROVAL OF regular meeting of June 3, 1996 and hearing none declared the minutes approved MINUTES as presented. City Clerk Barb Thompson swore in Joan Warner as 1st Ward Council- member. NO. 6-6-96 License - Booya 9-8-96 Mayor Werner opened the Public Hearing at 7:04 p.m. regarding the P.H.-CABLE transfer of the Cable Television Franchise currently held by King Videocable FRANCHISE Company which is under the control of Continental Cablevision, Inc., and TRANSFER to consider any required amendment to change the Cable Television Franchise Ordinance. The City Clerk provided proof of affidavit of publication. r- Mayor Werner asked if anyone wished to speak on the issue, no one wished to do so. The Mayor closed the public hearing at 7:05 p.m. Moved by Councilmember Hicks, seconded by Councilmember Johnson CABLE to table the action regarding the transfer of the cable television franchise FRANCHISE- between Continental Cablevision Company and US WEST. 7 Ayes; Nays, None. TABLED Moved by Councilmember Moratzka, seconded by Councilmember Simacek to establish the following schedule for the July meetings: July 8th-Council; July 15th-Planning Commission; July 22nd-Council; July 29th-Planning Commission. 7 Ayes; Nays, None. RESCHEDULE JUL YMEETINGS Page 2 June 17, 1996 Moved by Councilmember Hicks, seconded by Councilmember Riveness RES. NO. 6-7-96 to adopt Resolution No. 6-7-96 authorizing City Staff to assure the living units at Riverwood Drive are not occupied after July 1, 1996 unless certain conditions are met. 7 Ayes; Nays, None. Copy of resolution on file. Moved by Councilmember Hicks, seconded by Councilmember Riveness SHORT STOP to approve issuing the off sale liquor license to Short Stop Liquors, located in UQUORUCENSE County Crossroads shopping center, 275 33rd Street West, effective July 1, 1996. This motion also directs Staff to prepare amendments to the Liquor Ordinance, Section 3.08 for Council action. 7 Ayes; Nays, None. Mayor Wemer and the City Council thanked City Clerk Barb Thompson CITY CLERK for her 23 years of dedicated service to the City of Hastings. RETIREMENT Moved by Councilmember Johnson, seconded by Councilmember Riveness to adjourn to a closed door session regarding the 1996 Police Supervisors Union Contract at 7:43 p.m. 7 Ayes; Nays, None. ADJOURN TO CLOSED DOOR SESSION The regular Council meeting was reconvened at 7:55 p.m. from the closed RECONVENED door session.
