The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular
meeting on Monday, July 21, 1980 at 7: 30 p. m. in the Council O1ani>ers of the
- City Hall.
Merrbers present: Councilmen Trautmann, Trutna, Kulzer, Stoffel,
Shannon, Karnick, Collins, Legler, and Mayor
Petersen.
Manbers absent:
None.
The Mayor called for additions or additions to the minutes of the
meeting of July 7, 1980 and hearing none declared the minutes approved as read.
The Mayor opened the public hearing concerning the PUBLIC HEARIID USE OF
proposed use of Revenue Sharing Funds to be received by the City FEDERAL REVENUE SHARING
. during the calendar year 1981 and the unappropriated Revenue FUNDS
Sharing Funds received by the City during the calendar year 1980
. at 7:30 p.m. The legal notices of the' hearing were read into the
record by the City Administrator. There were no carments fran the
audience. A written request was received from the O1ief of Police
that an eroorgency poNer capability for the police and fire station
be given priority rating for Revenue Sharing Funds. There being no
other carments the Mayor closed the hearing at 7:38 p.m.
Several CounciJmen mentioned items to be considered for
Revenue Sharing Funds such as: expand the Tornado Warning Systan;
Police Dispatching;>ervice; the Ice Arena; Feasibility study on
Lake Isabel; Highway #61; Softball fields; and the League of Cities
Headquarters building.
Mr. Leigh Nelson voiced concerns regarding the Library CCMMEN'IS CN LIBRARY
expansion that is being considered. He suggested that perhaps EXPANSION
a long range proposal should be explored, because of the avai 1-
abili ty of the Baptist O1urch property next to the present library,
which would allow for greater expansion. He mentioned the traffic
congestion on 9th Street and that library systems may change in the
future.
Moved by Councilman Trutna, seconded by Councilman
Stoffel to adopt resolution #47-80 awarding the bid for the
razing of the building at a>9 Barker Street, Lot 1, Block 3,
Barker's Addition, to Davies Excavating Inc. the lowest bidder.
