The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular
meeting on Monday, May 19, 1980 at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chani:>ers of the
Ci ty Hall.
Members present: CounciJmen Trutna, Kulzer, Stoffel, Shannon, Karnick,
Collins, Legler, and Mayor Petersen.
Menbers absent: Councilman Trautmann.
The Mayor called for additions or corrections to the minutes of the
meeting of May 5, 1980 and hearing none declared the minutes approved as read.
'!he Mayor opened the public hearing to consider the
vacation of Bailly Street fran a point 524 feet south of its
intersection with lOth Street to its intersection with 15th St.
at 7: 32 P. M. '!he legal notices of the Hearing were read into the
record by the City Administrator. No one appeared for or against
the proposed vacation. The Mayor closed the public hearing at
7:35 P.M.
Moved by Councilman Legler, seconded by Councilman
Karnick to approve resolution #33-80 vacating Bailly Street
fran a point 524 feet south of its intersection with lOth Street
to its intersection with 15th Street. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none.
Moved by Counci1man Legler, seconded by Councilman
Karnick to table the request of Ron Harris to rezone his lot
at 526 E. 2nd Street fran R-2 to 1-2. Ayes, Karnick, Collins,
Legler; Nayes, Trutna, Kulzer, Stoffel, Shannon.
Moved by Councilman Kulzer, seconded by Councilman
Stoffel to deny the request of Ron Harris, 526 E. 2nd Street,
to rezone his lot fran R-2 to 1-2. Ayes, 5; Nayes, Collins,
Legler.

Stoffel to deny the special use penni t for Nick Freiennuth to
construct a two-family dwelling in a R-2 Zoning District in the
700 blocl of W. 5th Street. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none.
Moved by Councilman Stoffel, seconded by Councilman
Kulzer to approve a Hane Occupation penni t for Val lard & Debbie
May, 1830 Maple Street, to operate a catering service out of
their hane. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none.
Moved by Councilman Stoffel to approve the request
~or:temporary non-confonning use of existing facility at 1904
Vennillion Street (Fonner Osborn-Fasula) to operate a Used Car
business in a C-3 Zoning District. Motion died for lack of a
second.
Moved by Councilman Shannon, seconded by Councilman
Legler to refer the issue of a Used Car business at 1904
Vennillion Street to the Planning CaIlnission for their recarrn-
dation. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none.
Moved by Councilman Shannon to approve the MNfDot
proposal to convert the Veterans Hane laundry building to a
truck garage facility by amending the Ordinance to add this use
under Special Use Penni ts . Motion lost for lack of a second.
Moved by Councilman Stoffel, seconded by Councilman
Shannon to approve the proposal to convert the laundry building
at the Veterans Hane to a truck garage facility with the con-
ditions that the barricade be rerooved, and MN;oor to upgrade 21st
Street wi thin 24 roonths of City approval. Motion and second
withdrawn.
