The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular
adjourned meeting on Wednesday, April 25, 1979 at 7:00 P.M. in the Council
Olambers of the City Hall.
Manbers present: Councilmen Trautmann, Trutna, Liska, Stoffel,
Shannon, Karnick, Collins, Legler, and Mayor
Petersen.
Manbers absent:
None.
Councilman Trutna roved the adoption of the follONing RESOI1Jl'ION 230-79
resolutions, Councilman Shannon seconded the IIDtion for adoption. RESOIlJTION 231-79
Resolution #221J, the agreement with the State of Minnesota, RESOIlJTION 232-79
Department of Transportation, to rem:>v~ the existing traffic con- HIGHWAY #61
trol signals and highway lighting and to provide new traffic IMPROVEMENTS
control signals from County #47 to 3rd Street on Highway #61.
Resolution #231, the agreement with the State of Minnesota, Depar-
tment of Transport~tion, for ,the improvement of Highway #61 from
the Vermillion River, Bridge No. - 19075 to the Mississippi River,
Bridge No. 5895. Resolution #232 to provide for payment of the
Ci ty I s cost shares, the first half payment in July, the second
half upon completion of the Project.
Moved by Councilman :r.J-ska, seconded by Councilman
Stoffel to amend the original rot ion to read: The City Staff to
negotiate with the Highway Department to pay a minimum arrount in
July, the balance when Staff has worked out a payment form with
, the Highway Department. Motion and second withdrawn.
The Mayor called for the vote on the original IIDtion,
made by Councilman Trutna, seconded by Councilman Shannon, for
the adoption of Resolutions #221J, #231, #232. Ayes, 8;
Nayes, none.
Three bids were received in answer to the advertise-
ment for bids for the ranoval of 200 Dutch Eill Diseased Trees.

The lONest bid, made by Paul Keller, was rejected
because his original bid was not accompanied by a Bidder's Bond,
Certified check, or cash depooit, as stipulated in the adver-
tisement.
The bid received from River Valley Tree Service was
rejected because references received from past Eh1ployers, in
carmunities where they had worked, were not satisfactory.
Moved by Councilman Trautmann, seconded by Counci1man
Liska that it is in the best interest of the City to adopt
Resolution #233 which awards the bid for Rem:>val of Dutch Elm
Diseased Trees, to Jim's Tree Service, HaStings, Minnesota.
Ayes, Nayes, none.
