I ,--- Hastings, Minnesota April 2, 1979 52 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular rreeting on Monday, April 2, 1979 at 7: 30 P. M. in the Council ChanDers of the City Hall. Members present: Councilrren Trautmann, Trutna, Stoffel, Shannon, Karnick, Collins, Legler, and Mayor Petersen. Menbers absent: None. The Mayor called for additions or corrections to the minutes of the rreeting of March 19, 1979 and hearing none declared the minutes approved as presented. The Mayor invited the two applicants for the vacant APPOINT ROBERT LISKA. Council seat in the 2nd Ward to make a statement to the Council TO COUNCIL as to why they wish to serve on the City Council and what they could offer the City as a Councilman. Moved by Councilman Trutna, seconded by Councilman Stoffel to appoint Robert Liska, 530 Pleasant Drive, to the Council to fill the unexpired term of Thanas Novak, which expires in 1980. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none. Moved by Councilman Shannon, seconded, by Councilman Collins to pass a resolutton requesting Northern States Power Conpany to reconsider IIDving thei,r maintenance facility located in Hastings, to Red RD,*, in Newport. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none. " Moved by Counci lman Legler, seconded by Councilman Trautmann to re-appoint Mrs. Patricia Schultz, John McKane, and Erwin Schnirring to the Hastings Library Board, each to serve three year terns beginning in March, 1979. SIMMONS TO Trutna to re-appoint Thanas S:inm:>ns to the lIRA Comnission for lIRA a five year term, to expire March 24, 1984. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none. Moved by Councilman Shannon, seconded by Councilman Karnick to hire Wayne and Patricia Thanpson to serve as janitors at the Hastings Public Library beginning April 2, 1979 at a salary of $200.00 per month. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none. Moved by Couriciln1an Trautmann, seconded by Councilman Trutna to approve the abatements submitted by the Dakota County Assessor. To reduce the assessed value fran 8944 to nil for Parcel #19-32150-082-01 belonging to lIRA of Hastings and reduce the assessed value fran 38872 to 31906 on Parcel #19-32150-080-02 in the name of Mil ton E. Setterholm. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none. Moved by Councilman Stoffel, seconded by Councilman Shannon to pass the second reading of an ordinance regulating the storage of Elm & Oak wood wi thin the City of Hastings. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none. Moved by Councilman Stoffel, seconded by Councilman Trutna to accept the resignation of Robert Moritz fran the Parks Department, effective April 13, 1979. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none. Moved by Councilman Shannon, seconded by Councilman Karnick to approve the resolution authorizing the T.H. #61 Signal Agreement. Motion and second withdrawn. Moved by Councilman Trautmann, seconded by Councilman Shannon to hold over to the rreeting of April 16, 1979 the decision on the MN {'iX1r Signal Agreerrent. Ayes, 7; Nayes, none. Ayes, 6; Abstain, Karnick. Moved by Councilman Collins, seconded by Councilman Karnick to limit debate and call for the question regarding the Bui lding department issue. Ayes, Trautmann, Shannon, Karnick, Collins, Legler; Nayes, Trutna and Stoffel. Iv.bved by Councilman Trautmann, seconded by Councilman Shannon to adopt and issue a Notice of Intent to Terminate Elnployee, regarding Building Inspector, a copy of which notice, with attacbment is on file in the City Administrators Office.
