The City O:nmcil of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a
special meeting on Monday June 29, 1981 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council O1ani>ers
of the City Hall.
MaIi>ers present: Councilmen Kulzer, Trautmann, Pike, Karnick,
Trutna, Klimek, Bond, and Mayor Stoffel.
MaIi>ers absent:
Counci~ Legler.
The meeting was called for the purpose of reviewing the Braft Bequest
forlh'oposals and the Draft Ordinance with the Hastings Citizen Advisory
Camlittee for cable television. Mr. Ken LaCroix, O1airman of the Hastings
Citizen Advisory Committee for cable television, gave a brief presentation on
the iternsthe Ccmnittee has been working on since its origination. He
infonood the Council that the cable service territory had been estalSliShed
and approve3,]Joth by the City Council and by Minnesota Cable Coomunications
Board. He also noted the cable service territory included the entiret'Cl ty
and contiguous portions of Marshan To.mship. He reviewed sane of the policy
decisions the Committee had made' arid the reasoning behind those decisions.
Ms. Anita Benda, consultant for cable television, presented two
filns on the background and the future of cable television.
The City Council and the Citizen Advisory CaImittee had discussion
on the various i terns in the request for proposals draft and the draft
ordinance. The Ccmnittee wil be reviewing at their next meeting sane of the
cannents made by Councilmen.
Ms. Benda reviewed the timetable with the Council and stated there
would need to be a Public Hearing set to review the Request for Proposals.
Foll~ing the hearing the City can adopt the Request for Proposals and dis-
tribute to those corrpanies that have expressed. interest in lIastings.
Proposals will be due 90 days after the R.F.P. is released and it will take
approximately three to four months for C. T. lIC, ~ Be'Vi.8v ~ proposals
and give a recannendation bakk to the City of Hastings.
