Requested: Approve equipment purchases Background Information: In the 2012 approved Parks and Recreation budget, it was approved for the department to purchase one snow plow (installed)
for a pickup truck. After the first of the year, we discovered that we could purchase the same snow plow installed for a greatly reduced price due to current manufacturer rebates. Due
to this reduced price, I wish to seek City Council authorization to purchase a second piece of equipment (pickup truck tailgate lift) from the same company and still meet our budget
amount. The tailgate lift had been removed from our equipment inventory when we sold our quad cab pickup truck at last year. We have been experimenting by operating without the tailgate
lift, but have found that our maintenance staff is much more effective utilizing a tailgate lift lift for the heavier objects that are in need of transport. Financial Impact: 2012 budget
for the pickup snow plow installed is $8,000. We are able to purchase both pieces of equipment from a local Hastings company for $8,034.38 installed, tax included. Advisory Commission
