The City council of the cgty of Hastings, Minnesota met in at
Special Meeting on Wednesday, July 15, 1392 at 7:00 p.m, in the
City Hall Council chambers, loo Sibley Street, Hastings, Minnesota.
Members Present: ouncilme ber Trautmann, Riveness, Hicks
and Mayor Werner
Members Absent: counc -'Llmember Mathiowet , Johnson, and
ik
Mayor Werner called the meeting to order and provided opening
comments regarding the status of the city Fall , Police and Fire
Station Projects,
City Councilmembers Johnsen and Mathiowetz arrived at
7:07 p,mb
Mayor Werner turned the meeting over to City Administrator
Dave osberg, who provided background on the work to date and
information regarding the bids received, contract award schedule,
and banding schedule.
John Grossman then reviewed the general project cost for the
Police Station, Fire Station and City Hall Project,
City Administrator Dave osberg reviewed with the City Council
the various alternatives available for awarding contracts,
rebidding some of the construction packages and the opportunity to
reject bids received.
John Grossman reviewed all actual building construction costs,
exterior site costs, furniture, fixture and equipment casts and
reimbursables and soft costs,.
After significant discussion and interaction with the Housing
Redevelopment Authority and Members of the citizens Committee who
were also in attendance, City Councilmember Fred Tr utm nn moved
aria City Councilme ber Riveness seconded, directing City staff to
work with Lindberg- Fierce and PCL to reduce the project costs by
analyzing the current design, and determining whether bids should
be rej ected, specification requirements changed, and determining a
new estimated project cost. 6 Ayes; Nays, None.
