Parks Council Action Requested: Approve funding for park improvements at Cari and Westwood Park. Background Information: The City Council approved funding and purchase of two play equipment
purchases for Cari and Westwood Park. In discussions with the PRC and Parks and Recreation Committee of Council, other park improvements that were discussed included: Cari Park Repairing
trail segment Re-grading center of the park (in-house project) Border around play equipment (required for installation) Westwood Park Repair basketball court Add access trail from 19th
and Maple Border around play equipment (required for installation) The previous City Council action did not include these other park repairs/upgrades as originally thought. Financial
Impact: Both parks had an approved budget for play equipment of $60,000. Since volunteer installation efforts are being sought, the purchase price of both play equipment structures was
less than the approved amount. Thus, the request is to utilize the remaining balance of up to $8,000 for Cari Park and up to $9,000 for Westwood Park. These figures will not exceed the
approved 2011 budget for these parks. Advisory Commission Discussion: Parks and Recreation Commission discussed and recommended the listed park improvements for both parks. Council Committee
Discussion: The Parks and Recreation Committee of Council agreed with the PRC and felt the park improvements worthy of bringing forward to City Council. Attachments: • N/A
