Whereas, emergency medical services p roviders have traditionally served as the safety
net o f America's health care system; and
Whereas, emergency medical services teams consist of emergency physicians, emergency
nurses, emergency medical technicians., p aramedics, fi refighters, educators, administrators, an
others; and
Whereas, a too- thirds of all emergency medical services providers are
volunteers; and
Whereas, the members of emergency medical services teams, whether career or
volunteer, engage in thousands ofhours o, specialized training a on i r in education to
enhance their lifesaving skis; a
Whereas, 4mericans benef d ailyftom the knowledge and skills of these highly trained
individuals, and
Whereas, it is appropriate to recognize the value and the accomplishments ofemergenc
medical services providers b Y designating Emergency Medical services Week and
Whereas, injury prevention and the appropriate cse of the EMS system will help reduce
national health care costs; and

Johnson to close the City outdoor swimming pool and bath house; this BATH HOUS
summer and to work with School District No. 200 on the availability of
additional hours for use of the indoor swimming pool. 7 Ayes; Nays, lone.
Moved by Councilmember Sima el , seconded b Councilmember
iveness to approve the request from Regina Medical Center to ail ow a
parking lot with 35 spaces to have driveway access to First Street
in conjunction with the proposed "Assisted Living Facility ", subject to
site approval. This motion includes that a traffic study be conducted to
re- evaluate l st Street traffic/safety issues, upon the completion of the
Regina "Assisted Living Facility" and Surgical Center projects and the
County Highway 4 reconstruction project. 7 Ayes; lays, bone.
Moved by Councilmember Johnson, seconded by Councilmember
Moratzka to approve an Agreement with ISD Zoo regarding the
acquisition and transfer of City and School properties for the construction
of General Sieben Drive. 7 Ayes; Nays, None.
