Action Requested: Approve concept of the proposed advertising program Background Information: The Hastings Parks & Recreation Department has been developing a program enabling a company
to maximize their advertising dollars by placing ads in a variety of City of Hastings' facilities. A draft version of an informational brochure has been enclosed for your review. Staff
is currently exploring various printing service providers regarding the production and costs of each type of advertisement listed. The fees listed in the draft advertising brochure have
not been finalized at this time. We are requesting that Council first approve the concept of the program only. We will bring a final draft of the brochure with firm fees before Council
when it is completed. As this proposed advertising program is new and the Hastings Civic Arena has has already initiated agreements for the current advertisers, it may be advisable to
honor these agreements until they expire in 2012. In addition, the Hastings Hockey Boosters has arrangements with advertisers at the present time. It is recommended to honor these arrangements
until they expire, but not to add any other HHB advertising except through the proposed comprehensive advertising program. Upon expiration of the HHB agreements, staff will enter into
discussions with the HHB regarding future advertising. Financial Impact: Potentially increase revenue and improve business and City relationships Advisory Commission Discussion: The
PRC recommended the concept program be brought forward to Council. Council Committee Discussion: In concept, recommended the advertising program be brought before Council. Attachments:

that may be attractive for your business. Since the Parks & Recreation Department facilities and leisure programs serve thousands of patrons each year, we believe that this would be
a terrific way to increase your business exposure while at the same time assisting the City as it continues to deliver outstanding leisure services. What is the program? In the enclosed
brochure, you will see three different advertising options available. Each program is good for one one year upon registration. We offer a Gold Level package, a Silver Level package,
as well as individual opportunities for your convenience. For the remaining portion of 2011, the City is offering you the opportunity to begin advertising now and receive an added bonus
of getting the remaining portion of 2011 along with all of 2012 for the cost of one year. If you already advertise with the City of Hastings, the City will honor your existing advertising
agreement for one year. How to sign up? Along with the advertising brochure, you will see an advertising agreement. Please complete the advertising agreement and mail, fax (651-437-5396),
email (jflewellen@ci.hastings.mn.us) or drop this agreement off at the Parks and Recreation Department’s office located at 920 West 10th Street, Hastings, MN 55033 along with your payment.

City of Hastings Parks & Recreation Advertising & Sponsorship Opportunities Hastings Parks & Recreation 920 W 10th Street Hastings, MN 55033 The Hastings Family Aquatic Center is open
seasonally from June through August. This facility has a very successful swim lesson program with over 500 students annually. On average, over 30,000 people visit the HFAC during the
summer each year. The Hastings Civic Arena is home to the Hastings High School boys and girls hockey teams and to the H a s t i n g s H o c k e y Boosters. This facility hosts over 23
High School games each year, along with numerous other tournaments, camps, and events. Approximately 100,000 people visit the Arena each year. Veterans Athletic Complex encompasses one
Baseball Field, four Adult Softball Fields, and seven Soccer fields. Annually, these fields play host to many local leagues and tournaments including 8 weekend events bringing in over
10,000 attendees. Also, on a weekly basis throughout the 7-month season, Veterans Athletic Complex is host to HFC Soccer, Adult Softball and Kickball Leagues, HYAA Softball and Baseball,
American Legion Baseball, Hastings Hawks Amateur Baseball, and Little Raiders Football. The combined attendance of these events is about 60,000 visitors every year. Why Advertise with

Complex $900 ANNUALLY ADVERTISING POLICY The City reserves the right to refuse advertising for any reason. The City will not allow advertisements for: • Religious or spiritual facilities/entities
• Political candidates or organizations • Pornographic, inappropriate, or offensive materials as determined by the City • Tobacco products or liquor/alcohol Advertisers are responsible
for all content of advertisements (including copy, representation, and illustrations) and shall indemnify and hold harmless the City of Hastings and its employees. All advertisements
will be produced by the City of Hastings and will remain the property of the City of Hastings unless otherwise specified. All payments are due upon submission of advertising request.
