HomeMy WebLinkAbout20110418 - VIII-C-6.pdf City Council Memorandum To: Mayor Hicks & City Councilmembers From: Dave Osberg, City Administrator Date: April 14, 2011 Item: Police Supervisors Union Labor Agreement Council Action Requested: It is recommended that the City Council take action approving a two year (2011 and 2012) Labor Agreement with the Police Supervisors Union. Background Information: Staff recently reached a settlement with the Police Supervisors Union negotiating team, which represents the Police Lieutenants and Police Sergeants, represented by Teamsters Local #320. After three sessions with the Police Supervisors Union, a settlement was reached, which includes the following changes in the 2011-2012 Labor agreement: a.) Change in the vacation schedule at three steps, to align with the Patrol Officers Labor Agreement. b.) Change in the hours in which shift differential payment is made. Currently, the shift differential payment is made for shifts between 8:00 PM and 7:00 AM. The new labor agreement would define the hours as 6:00 PM to 5:5:00 AM. c.) Wages: January 1, 2011—0% (no change) January 1, 2012—1.0% July 1, 2012—1.00% Financial Impact: The 2011 Budget included an expectation that all Unions and the non-Union employees would not receive any wage adjustments in 2011. The 2012 Budget will include the necessary allocation of funds for this wage settlement and any other future wage settlements.
