Item: Donation to Hastings Police Department
Council Action Requested:
Accept donation of $1,000.00 from the Hastings Downtown Business Association to the Hastings
Police Department's Police Reserve Unit and authorize corresponding budget adjustment.
Background Information:
The Hastings Police Department's Police Reserve Unit is made up of 20 local residents who serve
the community as Police Reserve Officers. These Reserve Officers donate thousands of hours of
service to the community, often working unusual hours and in challenging weather conditions.
The donation from the Hastings Downtown Business Association was specifically provided to
support the Reserve Unit. The proceeds will be used to cover costs associated with providing
uniforms and safety equipment to reserve personnel. In additon, it is hoped that some of the
donated funds can be used to recognize reserve officers and promote volunteerism.

RESOLUTION NO. -
A RESOLUTION EXPRESSING ACCEPTANCE OF AND APPRECIATION OF
A DONATION TO THE HASTINGS POLICE DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS,
the Hastings Downtown Business Association has presented to the
Hastings Police Department’s Police Reserve Unit a donation in the amount of $1,000.00;
and
WHEREAS,
Hastings Police Department’s Reserve Unit provides thousands of
hours of volunteer service to the community; and
WHEREAS,
this donation will be used for costs associated with purchasing
equipment and service recognition and appreciation; and
WHEREAS,
the City Council is appreciative of the donation and commends the
Hastings Downtown Business Association for all their civic efforts in building a more
vibrant community,
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED,
by the City Council of the City of
Hastings, Minnesota;
1.That the donation is accepted and acknowledged with gratitude; and
2.That the donation will be appropriated for the Police Department as
designated; and
3.That the appropriate budget adjustments be made.
