Schnell, Chief of Police Date: September 28, 2010 Item: Budget Adjustment Council Action Requested: Authorize City Finance Department staff to make budget adjustment as requested to complete police facility flooring replacement/upgrade Background Information: The building that serves as the Hastings Police Station has been in service for 18 years. While the majority of carpet flooring on the first floor has been replaced due to use related degradation, the second floor is in need of carpet replacement. Due to implementation of "no cost" dictation/transcription software, a previously budgeted maintenance contract/rental euipment is not required. To avoid the need for future capital expenditure the department seeks a budget adjustment to allow for the procurement of updated commercial flooring for the second floor of the police facilty. The Minnesota State Contract Vendor bid came back at $10,833.00. Staff are currently seeking quotes from Hastings commercial flooring providers with the hope of a bid at or below the State Contract Vendor. Financial Impact: Within existing departmental/city budget, with transfers as follows: $8,800.00 from 101-201-2010-6310 to 101-104-1403-6350 (Building Maintenance) $750..00 from 101-201-2010-6362 to 101-104-1402-6350 $1283.00 from 101-201-2010-6311 to 101-104-1402-6350 Advisory Commission Discussion: Not applicable.
