July 26, 2010
Regular Meeting
Chair Zeyen called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Roll Call

Commissioners Present: Bullington, Peine, Vaughan, Slaten, Stevens, Zeyen
Commissioners Absent: Rohloff
Staff Present: Associate Planner Barker
Approval of Minutes – July 12, 2010

Motion by Commissioner Vaughan to approve the July 12, 2010, meeting minutes. Seconded
by Commissioner Bullington.
Upon vote taken, Ayes 5, Nays 0, Abstain 1 (Slaten). Motion carried.

3.Original Hastings Design Standards Review #2010-36 – Front Porch – 603 6
Street W.
Associate Planner Barker presented a staff report.
Commissioner Vaughan asked if staff felt the front porch met the OHDS guidelines. Associate
Barker stated staff was comfortable approving the porch as it met OHDS guidelines.
Commissioner Stevens inquired about the front yard setback. Associate Planner Barker stated the
porch addition would meet the 20 foot front yard setback.
Commission Vaughan inquired if the roof would be hip or pitched. Chair Zeyen stated it would
be a hip roof.
Commissioner Slaten asked how much work was currently being done on the home. Associate
Planner Barker stated that the siding work that is currently being completed was approved as it did
not trigger the OHDS requirements. Commissioner Slated stated that he drove around the
neighborhood and several homes had a similar front porch. He stated that this front porch fit in
with the neighborhood.

Motion by Slaten to approve the OHDS Review for 603 6 Street. Seconded by Stevens.
Upon vote taken, Ayes 6, Nays 0. Motion carried.
Other Business

Associate Planner Barker updated the Commission on upcoming items and previous City Council
items.
Adjourn

Motion by Bullington to adjourn the July 26, 2010, Planning Commission meeting. Seconded
by Vaughan.
Upon vote taken, Ayes 6, Nays 0. Motion carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:07 p.m.
