Re: Change Order #5 for 2009 Industrial Park Area Improvements
Enclosed for Council approval is Change Order #5 for the 2009 Industrial Park Area Improvements
project. This change order provides compensation to the contractor for achieving the asphalt density
incentive threshold, as prescribed by MnDOT specifications.
State Aid projects are required to provide an asphalt density incentive or disincentive to the contractor
based on test results of core samples taken from the project. Three density tests were conducted. Test 1
of 3 resulted in a net incentive of $2,379.58. Test 2 of 3 resulted in a net incentive of $0.00. Test 3 of 3
resulted in a net disincentive of $1,442.63. A total net incentive of $936.95 was achieved.
Thus far, the estimated total impact of change orders on this project amount to an aggregate increase of
$2,644.34, or about 0.12% of the total contract value. At this time, approximately 99.9% of all
construction quantities have been completed for the contract, and the second to last payment to the
contractor is also included on the Agenda for Council approval.
