HomeMy WebLinkAbout20100607 - VI-05To: Honorable Mayor and City Council From: Tom Montgomery Date: May 26, 2010 Re: Approve Budget Adjustment and Transfer — Retaining Wall Repair Council is requested to approve a transfer of $2,500 from the Wastewater Fund to the Street Department to fund the repair of a failing retaining wall on Tyler Street. A block retaining wall is tipping out over the sidewalk on Tyler Street, just south of Kennedy Elementary School. The wall was originally constructed in 1992 as part of a street reconstruction project to create room to fit the sidewalk in. A landscape contractor gave Public Works staff a rough estimate of $2,500 to improve drainage and anchor the wall into the slope to prevent the wall from failing again. The retaining wall should be repaired this year, but the 2010 Street Department budget did not include funding for this work. After discussing this situation with the Finance Department, staff is recommending that Council approve a transfer from the Wastewater Fund revenues to fund this repair. Accordingly, Council is requested to approve this transfer and adjust the Street Department 2olo budget so the wall can be repaired this year.
