My purpose this evening is to provide you with our Roadmap to Designation as a Beyond the Yellow Ribbon community. Tonight, I am delighted to be accompanied by Lieutenant Colonel Barbara O'Reilly, Chief of the Minnesota Na#ional Guard Deployment Cycle Support. While on active duty, all the necessary agencies and services were available on the military installation, however Minnesota and Camp Hastings does not have this structure. Our mission statement is to empower leadership, service members and families by providing relevant training, services, and resources throughout the deployment cycle. "This is not a program, it is process. And it's not the military's process alone. It takes a!I the resources of the local, county, state and federal government, along with every non-profit organization that's willing to help."- Chaplain (LTC) John Morris` Overview of the Roadmag The plan consists of eight parts, which l will briefly explain and answer any questions. Our Vision. To offer SUPPORT to Military Families and HONOR them in our Midst with a functional and sustainable community network. Our Ideas. What we intend to do. This is not all-inclusive, as new proactive ideas will be developed. Schedule of Events for 2(110. These are ideas, some of which require further coordination. Partners, Sponsors, and Contributors. These are elements of the community that have provided support and been acknowledged for that support. Community Resource Guide. These are agencies within the community that can help ease a veteran's transition back into the community, and also serves as a directory for referrals Community Service Volunteer Sion Up. This serves as a mechanism for citizens, organizations, and business to volunteer their services to the community Beyond the Yellow Ribbon team and assist military family members. It is much easier far families to cope with separation and reintegration if they know their local communities are caring them for. Military Famiily Care Initiative. A list of service, community, or faith- based organizations that have volunteered to provide volunteer services to families of military personnel during separation from their loved ones. Stories of Veterans and their families. We ask veterans of all eras to please share their military history and experience. All information will be located on the first floor of City Hall, the Pioneer Room, a historical records room focusing on the communnity and ci#izens of Hastings, Minnesota. Summary In summary, this roadmap results in a city wide nefuvork of support tha# is communicated, understood and (rusted by military families; where military residents and their families are recocrnired, can access informs#ion and services to assist them during the varuiys deployment cycles and is sustainable for future military families as deployments become necessary.
