HomeMy WebLinkAbout20100104 - VIII-C-6 MEMORANDUM TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Dave Osberg, City Administrator DATE: December 31, 2009 SUBJECT: Core Values No action will needed by the City Council, as Staff will be provided a report on the results on the Administrative Committee meeting conducted on December 2, 2009 and the concept of establishing some core values for the City of Hastings organization. Administrative Committee Members Barb Hollenbeck, Danna Elling Schultz and Tony Nelson conducted a meeting on Wednesday December 2, 1009 to review and comment on a series of core values the management team has worked on the during the last year, in an effort to clearly identify what our City stands for, and what it means to work for our organization as it relates to providing quality services to the public. During the course of the meeting on December 2, 2009 the Administrative Committee reviewed the following core values and endorsed their further consideration and implementation in the City organization. The City of Hastings is committed to the Following: COMMUNCATIONS We Value and Promote Participation and Interaction With Citizens and Staff We Will Seek to Assure Timely and Open Communications, while providing background and context for the decisions that are made. SERVICE We Recognize the Importance of Providing Timely, Courteous and Respectful Service to the Public and to One Another We Will Seek to Serve the Public and Other Employees in a Constructive, Creative and Practical Manner RESPECT FOR RESOURCES We Recognize the Value of Using All City Resources in an Efficient and Effective Manner We Will Seek to Utilize City Resources to Serve The Common Good of All ENTHUSIASM We Are Committed to Protect and Promote the Unique Characteristics of Our Community, Including its History and Scenic Beauty We Will Seek to Infuse Enthusiasm in Our Daily Interactions with Citizens, Visitors and Other Employees Members of the Administrative Committee and Staff will provide further discussion and context during the course of our presentation on January 4, 2010 along with phasing schedule for implementation.
