Direct Deposit Direct Deposit l. —all employees paid by the City of Hastings, including regular full and part-time, paid, on-call, temporary, and seasonal, will be required to be paid through direct deposit. The City has offered optional direct deposit for a number of years. State statute allows cities to require direct deposit for all of its employees. Direct deposit offers many benefits for both the employee and the employer. Some of the benefits to employees include: ? Deposits are in the bank right away on Friday even if an employee is away from the workplace. ? Saves trips to the bank to deposit a check. ? Eliminates the risk of losing a check and paying costly fees to have it replaced. ? Avoids payroll interruption in the event of a major disaster. ?
