This group wishes to conduct a pig roast at CP Adams beginning on Friday night at approximately 6PM with the picnic on Saturday. This group indicated they would remain in the park attending to their pig overnight. Alano Society is seeking a variance to the City of Hastings Park ordinance indicating park closing time of 10:00 PM. I am seeking authorization from the City Council to allow this group to utilize the park as indicated in their attached description. Thank you! We do this to bring together all of our members including Alcoholics Anonymous and Alanon Family groups, as well as the general public who is interested in knowing what we do. We would like to receive a variance from the normal park rules to allow us cook the pig which takes approximately 12 to 15 hours. We will have people camp out to cook the pig and maintain the fire – this is generally no more than 10 people. We generally arrive in the park around 6:00pm Friday to arrange everything. And the picnic will end on Saturday at approximately 8:30pm after our speakers and clean-up. This has been an annual event for many years; we moved it to Shaar’s Bluff for a few years but couldn’t cook the pig on sight, so we moved it back. There have never been any problems and we will have people there continually. Thank you, Thomas Schaefer Hastings Alano Society
