HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-02-99 ..... - ( Hastings, Minnesota August 2, 1999 The City Council of the City of Hastings, Minnesota met in a regular meeting on Monday, August 2, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 101 4th Street East, Hastings, Minnesota. Memben Present: Councilmember Yandrasits, Riveness, Johnson, Simacek, Hicks, Moratzka, & Mayor Werner Memben Absent: None Staff Memben Present: Dave Osberg, City Administrator; Shawn Moynihan, City Attorney; Marty McNamara, Park and Recreation Director; Tom Montgomery, Public Works Director; Melanie Mesko; Administrative Assistant/City Clerk r Presentation by Mac McGoon Studios with a Picture of Hastings Family Aquatic Facility Mr. McGoon presented an aerial photograph of the Hastings Family Aquatic Facility to be hung at the Aquatic Center. Mayor Werner on behalf of the City thanked Mr. McGoon for his generosity. Approval of Minutes Mayor Werner asked if there were any corrects or additions to the minutes of the regular meeting ofJuIy 19, 1999 and hearing none approved the minutes as presented. 7 Ayes; Nays, None. Consent Agenda City Administrator Osberg requested that item #6 of the consent agenda, certificati6IÍ of Quality One performance of the terms of the development agreement, be removed fÌ'om the agenda to an undetermined date. Councilmember Johnson requested that item #2, a resolution supporting Nininger Township's request for traffic signal at Highway SS and County Road 42, be puIIed for discussion. Moved by Councilmember Johnson, seconded by Councilmember Moratzka to approve the consent agenda as amended. 7 Ayes, Nays, None. (" Councn Discuss whether to support the Resolution Signal at Highway SS and County Road 42 There was concern by some council members that the signalization would result in additional traffic on Second Street. There was also discussion about the best way to improve the safety of that intersection, and the suggestion that a signal light may not be the best way to accomplish this. -. - r r (" Councilmember Hicks, who had brought the item to the Council at the request of the N'minger Township Board, stated that he did not want the resolution changed ftom what had been presented without being able to talk with the Nminger Township Board Members. Moved by Councilmember Simacek, seconded by Councilmember Johnson to table the resolution to the August 16th Council Meeting. 6 Ayes; 1 Nay Councilmember Hicks voting against.
