Re: Public Hearing to Consider Street Closing for Historic Hastings Saturday
Night Cruise-In in 2007
Recommended City Council Action:
Following a public hearing, approve the street closing request for Historic Hastings Saturday
Night Cruise-In for 2007.
Backaround:
At the January 2, 2007 Council meeting, the City Council ordered an informational public hearing
to be scheduled for January 16, 2007 to discuss the street closing requests for the scheduled
2007 Historic Hastings Saturday Night Cruise-In events. Notice was placed in the paper and
surrounding property owners, business owners, and residents were notified by mail of the
scheduled meeting.
City staff and representatives from downtown have been meeting over the last few months to
coordinate details for the Historic Hastings Saturday Night Cruise-In for 2007. The committee
would like to hold the car show every other Saturday, beginning June 2 through September 2007.
As part of this planning process, the Hastings Downtown Business Association is making a
request to close off parts of East 2nd Street and some other streets to accommodate the Cruise-In
(memo attached).
